Download now contains a more compact Netbook version
::Introduction::
What is Azenis I hear you say? Azenis was originally a windowblinds theme created by J.J.Ying, now in its second carnation it has become one of their most prominent themes with almost 200,000 downloads. It has also been ported to KDE by Ezy where it has proved equally successful. I decided to have a go at creating a port for gnome, i got permission from both J.J.Ying and Ezy and this is the result.
:

I have currently uploaded a standard black and blue version as well an icon theme. Various other coloured versions including red, green, purple and gold versions of theme has also been created by myself and others. whilst a whiter version is still in progress that i hope to have ready soon. Please feel free to post comments and suggestions
Thanks and i hope you enjoy my theme
:

-Gtk and Metacity Themes
-Nautilus Background
-Default Wallpaper
-Font
-Netbook version (Metacity and gtk)
::Installation instructions::
1. Download the file and place on your desktop
2. Open a terminal and run these commands:
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/Azenis /usr/share/themes
3. Open the theme manager, you can now
select the Azenis theme,
when you click on it, it will apply the gtk and metacity themes as well as the icon and cursor themes if you have them installed. It will also give you the option of using the wallpaper provided with this theme.
Alternatively you can download the deb installer package created by TheeMahn, it is currently consistent with the 0.2.7 release of Azenis and contains Azenis, Azenis red as well as both of their matching icon themes, wallpapers, GDM, a Grub splash and the Usplash theme

Lots of other really great Azenis Skins and themes to compliment the look created by others in the community. I strongly recommend a look =)

I forgot to add, here you have screen from mine Tweak Tool in Classic Gnome with Compiz on Linux Mint 12 from last month. http://i41.tinypic.com/6qi0zq.png As you can see, I cannot use your theme, only icons in classic mode. Do you have some suggestions?
Hiya James, Since I discovered your first works I was always astounded. Yet this time you made awes0me hard coding work and were very busy with it ^ ^. Your theme looks excellent on any Gnome 3, sometimes there are some differences, but having Azenis on Linux is awesome enough to be truly happy. As I am now :) I'm using Linux Mint 12 with Compiz, so mostly I'm switched to Gnome Classic. I wonder if you could share Gnome classic Azenis based distro, bacause some guys, like me, wonder if I could have compiz and azenis at the same time. Is it possible you could help with da simple theme or is it technically impossible?
Awesome theme! I'm using mint, I've installed it only problems I'm running into is that it won't install the fonts. I installed it via the theme manager. It asks me to install font and when I select accept it won't continue. For the other items that worked fine. The second problem is can't get my menu to look like the demo screenshot. And I tried installing the clock via the way that gnome-look site instructions say, but that location doesn't exist in my system. But that's not too much of deal. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-u2WQ1ERPPso/T1k1b2Rw01I/AAAAAAAAAiw/MbmqfVDLgrU/s1152/blue-screenshot.png
Have been using this FANTASTIC theme for more than a year now...cant and dont want to change it. But as Gnome 3 is coming with its gtk3 am worried about if I still can use Azenis or not. I really love this theme ..so please if u can make a gtk3 port..I ll be very thankful. Thanks.
I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 Alpha 3, and I found a little hack that works: Copy and paste the gtk-2.0 folder to gtk-3.0
Hi, is it possible, maybe to do the same for Gnome Classic for LInux Mint 12 with compiz, bacause I needed to fallback to lower version than Gnome 3 or 2?
Hi, Is there a way to fix the conflict with Firefox wherein all fields gets a black background and the texts typed are either black or grey? Thanks!
I love this theme exactly what I was looking for. I have 1 problem though and it's not with the theme. Could you by any chance tell me how to install the icon for gnome menu. Also I have 1 suggestion, you should change the cursor to where when you hover over a link it changes.
Hi, im glad you like the theme, the icon itself is one ive adapted for my own use, im not sure that it is publically available, i'll have a dig around for it and upload it if i can for you. As for the cursor, i didn't actually create that myself, it was ported by Kuduk. Im not really that proficient at cursor themes myself, your probably best off talking to him about adjustments. You can find the theme here... http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Azenis?content=104666 All the best =)
Ive got a soft spot for black and blue themes, and this fits the bill. I downloaded the .tar.gz and ran the terminal command with no problems. its there in the appearance settings, but it doesnt have the metacity window controls, so im stuck using a different window theme. i looked for it but its not there. plus, everything doesnt look exactly like your previews. any idea what the issue is?
Hiya, Im glad you like the theme, im sorry to heear your experiencing problems. What OS are you using? is there any chance of a screenshot or 2 at all and ill see if i can see if there is any obvious problems. Im actually just off on holiday for a week so forgive any late reply All the best, James
Im using ubuntu 10.10 maverick. is it possible to pm you a screenshot? i dont think you can upload images on here.
Hi there.Thx a lot for this awesome theme.I have tried some others but after an hour I had to switch back to azenis. Just a great theme ! Thanx man
wrong smiley by the way
Thanks for the feedback, im really glad you like it =)
I'm not getting the font to show up. What's it called? If it's Azenis, it's not in my icon list.
The font should be inside the .tar.gz file that you downloaded, just open it with an archive manager and it should be in the top layer.
The font is called Savedbyzero, you should be able to find it within the archive, you need to move it to your fonts folder first in order to use it Hope this helps, James
I have neglected this theme & themelinux.com enough, would you like me to rebuild everything to current? I am way behind, please bare with my workload. 0.0.4 debian. Please give me until this weekend. I have another O/S release coming.
Hi Theemahn Sorry for the lateness of my reply, i have been somewhat absent from Gnome-look of late. If you could update it at some point that would be great, i really appreciate all that you have done for this theme. Great work with the latest version of UE btw ive been an avid user since 2.0, its still the best distro out there to my mind =) All the best, James
cool
However doesn't like it. Get this when I use the DEB package: Error: Cannot install 'usplash'. Probably because Ubuntu changed the ability to change the USPLASH screen in 9.10. Oh Well, just downloaded everything BUT the usplash screen & did it manually!
Sorry i don't know what could be causing this. Although i didn't compile it myself i have tested the DEB package however that has only been done on 9.04 as i have issues with the more recent versions of ubuntu for some reason unfortunately. All the components are also available outside this package (as well as some others that are not included in it) although as you point out they will require a more manual installation process. If you or anyone else for that matter, has any problems trying to install the theme or any of the other components, please don't hesitate to ask for assistance ill be happy to help. All the best, James
The reason the usplash theme cannot be installed in Ubuntu 10.04 is because usplash is no longer being used. It has been completely replaced by Plymouth as of that version.
