Submitted:  Feb 5 2007
Updated:  Apr 4 2007

Description:

A Clearlooks-based themes for the "Murrine" (http://cimi.netsons.org/pages/murrine.php) engine, which is much faster than the Clearlooks engine (that should appeal to Xfce users).

Really, all credit should go to the author of the Clearlooks theme.

Changelog:

Updated for the new Murrine engine in the Ubuntu Feisty repositories (0.52).

 Mistake

Murrine is not faster than clearlooks if you set a round theme, despite if the theme go squared or roundness = 1 the speed improvement is big.

Well it definitely is faster, but you're probably right that it is even faster when you turn off roundness.

 Checkboxes

Hello,

I see that on your screenshot, checkboxes have a white background even when they are checked.
However, on my computer they appear with the colour given to active elements; see http://pix.nofrag.com/a4/94/cc9e5a7beba119d3d118e247a043.html.

I don't understand why it happens.

What version do you have for gtk? (Assuming you have a Debian-based distribution, it's the package libgtk2.0-0)
What about murrine?
Do you think of other causes for this difference in rendering?

Ah, sorry, I need to update the screenshot. That one was made with the previous version of the Murrine engine, now I have updated the theme. I think the blue looks quite good (also note the blue edge on the left side of menu's), don't you think so?

I'll upload a new screenshot.

For the background of active checkboxes, well it actually depends on the theme you use.

When you use light colours, as in MurrineLooks, it looks good, but with other themes which contrast active elements with darkcolours, it results in checkboxes almost black against the lighter background. That's why I was looking for a way to control the background of checkboxes an radio buttons.
