Description:
This is a complete system set for KDE. I have assembled this set from icons by Everaldo, Louie Mantia and me. I used Louie Mantia's mimetype and folder icons as a template. Also included in this set are the most beautiful Open Office icons on the planet created by Mike Moschini aka gryphen who kindly granted permission to include them. This is a great example of a true Linux community. This iconset is by the people for the people :-)

The build script depends on 'convert', which is part of ImageMagick.

I created this set because there are no iconsets for KDE that I find completely polished. I hope everyone enjoys this set and I give all credit to the great artists who made most of these icons.

To install this set:
1. download the zip file
2. extraxt the zip file
3. cd into the Aqua_Crystal folder
4. open a terminal there
5. run ./buildset
6. get a beer
7. Install the icon theme in KDE Control Panel
8. Enjoy
Last changelog:

Changed download link to Deviantart page.

Updated:

Added choice of Trash icons...before building set go to the filesystems folder, rename trashcan_empty to trashcan_empty1, rename trashcan_full to trashcan_full1, pick the Trashcan set you like and remove the number from the name then run ./buildset

I just switched over from windows, so I'm very new to the KDE environment. How do I run buildset ?

Thank you very much for the great work. Love them. But are you using Kxdocker, or some other docker. Because no matter what I do, my kxdocker looks a little out of control

hammergom

First...Thankyou :-) Second...yes it's KXDocker, but I keep it simple. Only use calendar, clock, tray and trash plugins. I turn off the highlight glow and set animation to bounce. Look around...there's another setting in preferences to make it work with beryl.

Ported to rox filler; http://www.xfce-look.org/content/show.php/Aqua_Project++ROX+filler+port?content=55499

hammergom

Yes...I saw that :-) I'm glad most people seem to like these sets. If anyone would like to port them to Xfce or especially Gnome...feel free to do so. The KDE port was enough for me...lol

From kde to gnome is hard to do in the right way (i.e. well), so I'm going to have to give that one a miss. but great icon theme never the less, much better than my attempts.

I've been waiting for a good icon theme! Keep up the good work, you make my KDE tasteful. How did you get your konqueror sidebar like that, by the way?

hammergom

I just googled Baghira and then followed the author's tutorials.

Lovely icon set here. Now I finally have an icon set that complements Baghira.

What's the style you're using?

I am deeply sorry gryphen. You are correct I should have asked your permission. I am new to the Linux themeing community. I only felt that your openoffice icons were the best of the best. I would very much like to use them in this set. I would of course give you all of the credit that you deserve. I am not out for glory at all. I only claim my creations. I want these iconsets to be what the community wants. I for one want beautiful high quality icons on my desktop. If you like I will remove them from the iconsets. I will now, although a little late ask your permission to include them. they are the best. I try and acknowledge the talent of the people who created this art. A lot of the icons are mine but like most KDE iconsets are a community effort. Isn't that what linux is supposed to be about? Sincerely, HaMMeR=GoM=

gryphen

permission is granted and I apologize that my comments earlier came across as gruff. Lately the language and details surrounding licenses has become a serious subject. I am also putting together an icon set (because like you, I think most of the sets provided here leave alot to be desired.). I didn't take offense, and you're right it isn't about the fame, I just wanted to make you aware that artists, especially those within the Linux community, create their work because they love Linux and not to make a quick dollar. So acknowleging their work when used is the 'payment' or recognition. Keep up the great work you've put forth in putting these sets together, I know that many here appreciate your efforts. cheers, gryphen

hammergom

You are a true gentleman gryphen. Thank You and if you find any of my attempts at art useful, please feel free to make them better and use them. Your artistic talents are awesome dude. I'm updating all my posts to include you now and again I apologize. L8tr, HaMMeR=GoM=

If you are interested in a format that has worked well for giving credit to the artist, please see this: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Nvisible+Platform+Kroller+Xandros?content=20094 Eric

gryphen

the open office icons are mine, and are not under the GPL license and when did you ask permission from me to use them?

gryphen

actually, correction - it's not so much the permission part as it is the fact that there is nothing in your project description and NO 'readme' or 'notes' in the download that gives attribution or permission from or to any artist, not even yourself. you might want to at least give that back to the original artists, it's not about fame, it's more about common courtesy.

nejode

The .png's look great, but when I try to build it says that it can't find "convert" in the path... I've looked all over the ubuntu/debian repos, freshmeat and sourceforge and can find the software. Could anybody point me in the right direction!

hammergom

install imagemagic for convert :-)

nejode

Mil gracias hammergom... I'll get to it imediately...

mepisman111

I love this. I don't use anything thing but this set now... But during the build it came up with this: cp: cannot stat `README': No such file or directory cp: cannot stat `GPL': No such file or directory cp: cannot stat `CHANGELOG': No such file or directory I know it didn't affect anything but you might want to fix that so people new to linux don't start to worry. Joey

hammergom

Thanks...I've fixed it :-)

odysseusjak

For the update! I really appreciate it. My personal computer is a Mac and my work computer is PCLinuxOS. I have it tricked out to look similar to my Mac and this icon set is exactly what I needed. Thanks again for this.

Khan

..the "Reply" button seems to be missing. All other buttons are good.

hammergom

Added Trashcan icons and Sidebar icons :-)

An Icon Theme should have a valid .theme file among its files and aim to be complete for desktop use under Gnome or KDE Plasma.

If it contains only a single icon or a small set of icons, please use the Icon Sub-Sets or Single Icon/Logo categories instead.
