Description:
Compocity is a Metacity theme designed for all of you using the newer versions of David Reveman's Compiz (post beryl's fork) which directly support Metacity themes!

It's inspired to Clearlooks in a way, but it is cleaner and doesn't draw the black outlines, useless when you have shadows

***Without Compiz this theme is just ugly and useless. So don't bother downloading and don't vote it down just because of that***

NOTE: this is a modified Clearbox theme. http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=25060
Last changelog:

0.8 minor improvements

0.7 fixed utility windows

0.6 clean-up; change: inactive windows look more "inactive"

0.5 clean-up; color/gradient changes; now only available the rounded corners version

0.4 small fixes, added a rounded corners version

0.3 converted to use gtk colors instead of fixed colors; added yellow/green/red button prelight

0.2 unfocused outline more clear

0.1 first usable version

Great theme works nicely with a composite manager, my new default (for now =P). Keep up the good work - thumbs up =).

"It's inspired to Clearlooks in a way, but it is cleaner and doesn't draw the black outlines, useless when you have shadows ;)" I beg to differ, the border looks rather bad to me. Shadows can make borders look more realistic, but they aren't necessarily a replacement for it. However, it would probably look much better without the jagged corners and without the lightblue border on the top-right. This is what I would consider a perfect "borderless" look: http://www.userbrain.de/spotlight.png Notice how at the top the highlight line is contrasted with a very noticable transparent shadow line around the border. Our eyes hardly notice it as a border, it just looks smooth and realistic. I'm not saying this to sound negative, I just think we should pay more attention to details and strive for the best possible results.

Hi, there. Beautiful desktop you have there. I'd like to know what wallpaper you're using and what the name of the gtk+ is. Can you tell me, please?

felipe

I don't remember where I got the wallpaper from. GTK theme is Clearlooks Cairo, you can get it following this tutorial (italian only) http://pollycoke.wordpress.com/2006/05/20/gtk-velocissime-con-clearlooks-cairo-glitz/

Why do I always seem to be the dissenting vote? It's nice but it looks a lot like other stuff out there. I guess I go for unique.

felipe

I guess you didn't even read the description... it IS unique: it doesn't draw any ugly windows outline. there's no other theme doing this AFAIK

bvc

that's because the outline is a beautiful thing. Useability. Yes, metacity has/had jagged corners but so does this theme, which defeats a purpose of compiz. Metacity theme suppport is not going to be good for all themes. The close icon is wacked out too. The active window doesn't announce itself as such and just looks weak. BUT, it's still early in the game for metacity support so hopefully it will improve, and it's good people like you are showing it off!

dborg

Agreed, metacity theme support for compiz only really makes sense with the new features in V2 of the metacity theme spec IMO.

pato

Nevertheless, with xcompmgr it is just as beautiful as with GLX/Compiz_modified; and I love it.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! this is an awesome theme. I really like it. Now if Nvidia could get their act together so I can run composite and xcompmgr with any measure of stability, this will be my new default. super work!

felipe

thanks i have no real problem using xcompmgr every day, just some minor annoyaces. i have an nvidia too, if your card doesn't suffer from the "big nvidia freeze bug" (...) then it's just a matter of, like i said, minor annoyances. let's hope they sort it out at the Xorg level :)
