Hi . I just want to say, that if you're using Intrepid you must convert the image to 24 bits, else you'll get black splash.
To do that just open it with GIMP, go to SAVE AS, give it a name(depends on your distro) and in the save as dialogue, choose FINE SETTINGS( I'm not sure what exactly is in English, but you'll find it) and choose 24 ( instead of 32 ) bits.
