Work with intrepid and 386 architecture and x64 architecture.
Instalation: (copy/past to Hardy-Colors Usplash description) This is the most user-friendly method:
sudo apt-get install startupmanager
Add any of the *-ubuntu.so files under manage usplash themes. Make sure you choose the right one for your pc;s architecture. If you don't use widescreen, select your optimal resolution in startupmanager and you're done. If you do use widescreen, read below:
Widescreen Startup Manager doesn't support widescreen, so after you have selected the desired theme, do the following:
I followed your instructions to the letter, but nothing happened. Well, actually at one point my Screen went Black on my Monitor and I had to reboot. But nothing is working the way it should be. I don't see any Splash Screen. And the Splash Screen Preferences shows no Splash Screens installed.
I am amazed that so many other people were able to figure out what you were talking about, and actually get it to work. Because it seems to me your instructions are extremely vague, and lacking a whole lot of details. Otherwise I would not be typing this now. At this point I am more worried that following your Instructions may have done more damage than good. In which case then I have to worry about trying to undo the Damage this may have caused.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I was trying so hard to get the other chrome splash to work and by luck stumbled across this one.
also thank you for uploading to rapidshare.
I used this in intrepid and it was one of only three that worked for it but I down graded to hardy so I wouldnt have to deal with all the bugs in intrepid and now it doesnt work, Please let me know if you can do this.
Hi,
I have an "old" Dell XPS gen 2 laptop with Geforce 6800 ultra CG and a widescreen, but hwinfo doesn't return me widescreen resolutions : the highest it returns is 1600x1200, whereas my screen's best is 1920x1200...
any idea how can I get this resolution's mode # ?
Thank's anyway for this nice splash screen :)
