Uses a subtle reflection to give a more modern look.
This is the first usplash that I've got as far as uploading, so please leave feedback.
If it's good, say so. If it's bad, tell me why

Only available at the moment in 1024x768, but if you want other resolutions please let me know!
Only tested in Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10
---To Install---
Easiest way is to download startupmanager from Synaptic Package Manager.
Got to Appearance->Manage Usplash Themes->Add. Point it to the .so file. Then choose the theme back on the Appearance tab and close.

Uploaded source now. I forgot! Source is quite messy as this is basically reverse-engineered from the standard Ubuntu Usplash files. I will tidy it up in future versions ;)
???
Thanks for the feedback. So move the logo and Ubuntu text, but keep the bar and loading text in the corner? I'll put together a few different versions and put them up when I get a chance (tomorrow night probably)
That looks excellent. Great work.
I like the concept of the shiny reflection. But the placement of the logo and text at the bottom of the screen screams ERROR until I realize that's what it's supposed to look like. Could you do another version, still reflecting, but with the logo and text at the center of the screen?
It should still work - My screen is 1440x900 but usplash is technically quite limited and generally just stretches the 1024x768 image. So yes, it might be quite wide and fat looking ;)
I have a 1680x1050 and 1280x960 Screens. But I will try this one, maybe it works?! :)
