CleanUSplash
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
Hey folks,
I gave it a try and customized kilo323s Macx-Usplash-Theme (there was allready a spinner in it). So this is the first preview-version oft the theme. On 1280x1024 it works quiet well. (I don't think, that it will work corect in other resolutions right now) By time im going to improve it some more.
To use it do the following steps:
(But do it on your own risk!!!)
* untar the package
* backup /etc/alternatives/usplash-artwork.so (sudo)
* rename cleanUsplash.so to usplash-artwork.so and move it to /etc/alternatives (sudo)
* do a update-initramfs -u (sudo)
* reboot Last changelog:

Could you provide the source images so that users with widescreen resolutions can just compile their own usplash? Actually, providing the entire source would be cool too. If that's not possible, please come out with version 0.3 soon. :)
I compiled it on Ubuntu 8.10 32-bit (thats why it's not usable on 64bit yet). The resolution, i made it for, is 1280x1024 (at least in that version). I'm looking forward to release 0.3 soon. The new version will enable more resolutions, colorthemes and 64bit support. best regards jtf2000x.
ahh, allright.
...i didn`t get working:(. which resolution and colordepth do u recommend? use an ubuntu 8.10 64bits. any ideas? thx in advance!
Is good, but using the verbose mode (text telling you what the boot scripts are doing) put the text in the top and the ubuntu logo is in the wrong place. I have configured usplash with a 1024x768 resolution. Cheers!
looks very nice at the lower resolution.. tried 1600x1200, still worked but the spinning logo was in the complete wrong spot.. damn
I've always wanting something to be spinning on boot, the logo in particular.
I love this!!
Would be awesome but I think Ubuntu wants to maintain the brown/orange looks.
Wow thats a neat idea !! ... with Plymouth being a contender for Jaunty I see this idea being further developed.
