Hello,
I've done the "Sudo..." as described above and open the Splash Program in System-Preferences but when I click on the button "Install" and select the file downloaded for "Snowish Splash" it just closes on me. And when I open it back up again, it doesn't show it being installed. Any Help please?

I found this by trying it out, after downloading the "32883-SnowIsh-splash.svgz" file rename it to "32883-SnowIsh-splash.svg.gz", the author has given the extension .svgz instead of .svg.gz. After that you can open it easily, it's a 2.4 mb svg file inside.

just download the image when you click to view it. right click, save image as... then use that file to install it in gnome-splashscreen-manager

sudo apt-get install gnome-splashscreen-manager ;) And then go to System > Preferences > Splash Screen
In fact that's a good question :P
I like it a lot, but can you produce a version without the text "Linux Desktop" text?
Or, failing that, at least the original .xcf or whatever you used to create it :). Thanks!
I added the SVG source file.
Actually I edited it with Inkscape and now mine says 'Gnome Desktop' ;)
