Description: GDM Canvas is a GDM theme designed to be less intrusive so that the background image can stand out. This is achieved by providing the log in area down at the bottom of the screen 32 pixels in height.
To change the image in the background to something more visually pleasing simply replace the background.jpg file in the archive with a different image of the same name.
To access the options of shutdown, restart, session etc... simply press F10 and a menu with the options will appear above the user name and password box.
No, I used GIMP/Inkscape for all graphics and a text editor for the .desktop file. All background images I found on the internet, except for the one I edited lol.
I'm working on a new version of this to add more flexibility to it's look :).
