For applying GDM themes, there is this tool:

Note Ubuntu uses LightDM, so you would need to switch to GDM first to use GDM themes:

Once I select a username and the password prompt appears, there is no clear/reset button to go back to the username prompt. So if you want to log in as a suppressed username (e.g.: root), if you click a user first, you can't get back to username prompt to type in root. Also, your cap lock warning is obscured by the user list.
Thanks for your comment. For the root problem, I can't do much, and anyway you are not supposed to use root ;) I will try to fix the caps lock problem as soon as possible.
Can you please add bigger screen shots? Thanx
Hello, please upload your work also to http://art.ubuntu.com/ Thank you!
how can i add a face to each user in this gdm style?
put an image in your home directory and name it .face or use gdmphotosetup
Thanx i managed to do it though by putting a png picture with my name in /usr/share/faces according to gnome manual it should be faster this way. Thanx for your help again and for a great GDM theme.
