Author of this project apperantly changed the theme completely, it has dark metacity with some weird dark red buttons.
I think it was some git push accident. Nonetheless it is crap now and it is not the advertise theme.

hey, i've been trying to figure out where i would need to edit the theme in order to disable inactive window transparency. any idea how i can do that?

You can change value of Shadows settings set (UnityDecoration widget)

Open themes directory then edit CSS file /gtk-3.0/apps/unity.css in UnityDecoration {..} section
