Description:
here is my dark mod of elementary.
its basicly elementary with a dark color scheme and some tweaks.

the zip file contains:
Gtk theme
Emerald theme
Panel bg
start here icon

i recommend to install elementary gtk and icon theme before installing this theme

https://launchpad.net/~elementaryart/+archive/ppa

and for bright tray icons i recommend Ubuntu Mono Dark Elementary

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ubuntu+Mono+Dark+Elementary.?content=124196

for a nice look like in the screenshot install globalmenuapplet
https://edge.launchpad.net/~globalmenu-team/+archive/ppa

and nautilus-elementary
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/04/install-nautilus-elementary-230-via-ppa.html

To enable breadcrumbs create a doccument with .gtkrc-2.0 as its name and

include "./.themes/black-element/gtk-2.0/nautilus/nautilus.rc"

as its content and enable breadcrumbs in the tweaks menu of nautilus-elementary

I've got a problem, when I install the theme it says i should use a icon theme called "elementary-dark-monochrome", that there isn't in your packages nor in the link you posted... Are you using it or not? Where can I find it? Thanks for the help. BTW, awesome theme! Really really nice!

bigrza

Thanks, im using elementary icon theme + Ubuntu Mono Dark tray icons. i used it as "elementary-dark-monochrome" and wanted to upload it here at gnome-look but rafeviper already did it :) so you can use his Ubuntu Mono Dark Elementary icons here http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/ubuntu+mono+dark+elementary.?content=124196

I REALLY like this, one of the best looking dark themes I've seen. However, I noticed text entry boxes were defaulting dark grey with light grey text. I accept that this may be by dint of something I've done myself, but it is off-putting and detracts from the excellence of the theme. Also, when I applied the GTK, I didn't have the elementary-esqe breadcrumbs (which I love) but rather the ugly blocky default one. Is there a way to fix these issues? Thanks.

bigrza

Hey thanks for your comment. default text color for the entry boxes is #EFEFEF (nearly white) perhaps you need to set the colors to default in the customizing menu :) also i added how to enable the breadcrumbs in the info :D

Sorry to be a pain, but how do I open up the 'tweaks' menu in nautilus?? I am lost!

bigrza

the tweak menu is in the preferences menu of nautilus elementary. Edit>Preferences the most right Tab. of course you have to install nautilus elementary first :D
