I use this theme with GTK theme http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/MediterraneanNight?content=148398 and some transparency on the panel.
Also works well with the MediterraneanDark variant.

Requires the Faenza icon theme (inherits Faenza-Darkest by default; change this at will by editing the index.theme file):

Faenza trash icons are included to work around the bug that the Dark* variants have of not showing trash full on xfdesktop.
