No, it actually looks good. There is a large group who like interesting, yet clean backgrounds. Photos and complicated stuff tend to muck up the desktop. Kind of reminds me of Leopard's background, but then it doesn't. Be proud!

The only things I'd like to see are a widescreen version, preferably in higher res like 1920x1200, and without the Ubuntu logo. User could easily add their own distro's logo in Gimp.

Just do the same thing, only no logo and in 1920x1200. Thanks! You could, if you wish, use some other colors and make variations. That's up to you, but as is, it looks good.
