Description: People who try to imitate Vista, get flamed constantly. And until recently, I wholeheartedly agreed with that, because Linux doesn't need to imitate Vista to be functional and beautiful. But:
To convince some people from 'the other side' (non Linux users), I had to prove that it could do at least the same. And the best proof is to start somewhere familiar. Ergo: kubista was born. Feel free to flame and/or use the content.
This wallpaper combines very nicely with kbfx-theme Just Vista, elsewhere on this site. Also: don't forget to upgrade to KDE 3.5.7, since only in this version, white text gets displayed properly on a dark kicker...
EDIT: I just discovered that I mirrored the original Kubuntu-logo. As of now, this is fixed.Last changelog:
2.1: Added an alternate background 2.0: Kubuntu Gutsy version 1.1: Fixed mirrored logo 1.0: Initial Release
I am a console linux user trying to get back into linux. I really appreciate having the option of a Windows-esque theme, it helps me get back into it.
I'm glad to see the shift from the "W1nDoW$ $ux0rZ, 1iNuX r0x0rz" mentality, which alienates soon-to-be-ex Windows users to something more like "We make the switch to Linux eeeeeasy", which is a far better strategy to get people off Windows.
Hi,
Just updated the wallpaper (but the thumbnail is still the old one).
The fonts I used:
Kubuntu : SegoeUI (obviously)
Gutsy : Lane Narrow
TM : Klill
All fonts except SegoeUI downloaded from dafont.com
I agree with you!
But still brings mixed emotions to me. You have to be carefull not to copy stuff like M$ does (at least not right LOL). I know, I know, you're just imitating, but try to make better art work than M$. I know you can do it, open source community has proven it right many times!

-Nice argument!

Thank you very much!!! I really like the style of this wallpaper, especially the modified kubuntu logo and the fonts you used. Nice work!!!
What about a Kubuntu Gutsy modification? I tried to modify it myself, but I didn` t find the font you used.
