At first I was a bit annoyed that the motiv was not really centered - sometimes I wonder where my mind is while shooting fotos.
But then it occured to me suddenly that this would make a perfect background image - after all, most people have the panel at the bottom - leaving the motiv perfectly centered

The image was not manipulated except for:
* selective Gaussian blur, radius 3, treshhold 10. This successfully removed the slight noise from the sky parts while not destroying the sharp edges.
* scaling from 2560x1920 to 1600x1200
* unsharp masking to combat the slight blur from the Gaussian blur and the scaling down.
* adding copyright text, and saving as progressive JPG w/ quality 95.
Unlike most images from my Nikon, this one was very sharp from the beginning, so the unsharp mask operation was very light. Also, the colors were aleady *just* right, so no further adjustments were neccessary.
I really like this image, it is clear, sharp, bright, and reminds me of sun, fresh air, summer and holiday. If you listen closely, you can hear the bees whizz past...
Even though all my software is released as free software, this is the first time that I give one of my photos completely free - a strange thought.
Feedback welcome.
Enjoy,
Tels

I think the sunflower is a bit too big, but still a very nice photo! Do you have more photos of flowers? They always "freshen up" my day! :)
More flower photos? You bet! :) See http://bloodgate.com/photos for more photos from me. For just all the flowers, try http://bloodgate.com/photos?f=t_Flowers&id=1. Hope you like them. :o)
Thanks! I'll have a look at those sites. B.

This looks really nice. Very crisp and professional - much better than all those annoying pictures of celebrities with fake K tatoos pasted on them, or references to how Mr. Gates is going to burn in hell. I think these are the types of images that should be included with a distribution. Seems to fit in with the other images that are in the desktop-backgrounds-extra package (rh9 at least). Possibly you could try to get it included? Nice work.
Thanx for the positive comments! Yes, after uploading I browsed this site for real for the first time - and noted the very KDE centric look of most of the stuff. Don't get me wrong, Tux is cute, especially the crystal one :o) But all the big-glory-K stuff gets a bit boring after a while - especially the more childish bashing :) But to every one what they want... If you like my photos check out my site, I think some of them would make good backgrounds, too. How would I go and try to get the background included into a distri? Whom should I contact? Than again, and take care, Tels
you could contact the kdedevelopers to include directly in KDE 3.2. :)
Yeah, but probably 1000 people do this everyday to get their "coolest/hottest/best/l33t35t wallpaper ever" included - and promptly get ignored :)
I think kde really needs some nice wallpaper! Something different to all those quite boring K-related things. :) You should really try because you are telented!
