I had a number of comments asking if I could remove the black borders around the edges and fade the centre text more.
5 minutes of editing later ...
Both the designs have had the borders removed, but only one of them has the fade on the centre text, enjoy and let me know what you think.

Make a higher resolution image, and do it in SVG or something for easy changing the background color
Nice concept. Although I don't really like the quotes in the big text. In fact I don't even like the word "definition" there. How about What's open source? or Simply: Open source
