This is actually the second render of this wallpaper. My earlier submission came out 'very' dark. Although it is intended to be a darker image, certain elements are meant to be more visible.
This image was modelled and rendered using ArtOfIllusion 2.6

I 'still' am not completely satisfied with this, although it does look a bit better than my last render. In comparison, there are a few changes in variables for material and texture settings for the glass... as well as a change in the lighting.

Yes, there are guidelines to it's use...
At the KDE Wiki are the artist guidelines. Simple, really... Just don't misrepresent the logo. That's about the gist of it.
