Torvalds-In-A-Box
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
I get a bit tired of all the MS and Apple ads on TV all the time and often wonder what they'd be like as linux ads. This is just one idea. Last changelog:
06/27/2006 - Changed to Torvalds, Colored box black, and got rid of text as per suggestions. I also did some research and found that, for the most part, parodys are protected by the First Amendment under "fair use".

I think you should get rid of the text, or get the Mac and PC metaphors right and make the image of Stallman less blurry. Its freaking hard to see. I might also make the GNU/Linux box black (if you get my point ;) Also, should we be worried about the Apple copyright on this work. The last thing KDE needs is for Apple to shut us down.
As I stated above, I switched the sayings for PC guy and mac guy to show the neither one really wanted to use their own OS. But, I do think you are right about getting rid of the text's. The blur was to try to show motion. I had a hard time with it because I couldn't do anything about the motion of PC guy's arm's so I figured anything in motion should have the blur. I have a version without the blur and I think what I'll do is blur the OSS users legs only keeping his upper body, the box, and Stallman (or whomever) in focus. Great idea about the black box!!! I will definatly do that. Comments on copyright? I'll do some research to try to find out what the law is about using stills from a advert. Thanks for the comment. Sorry for the length of my reply.
You should have used Linux, because flat out Richard Stallman is a has been, good for GNU, bad for opensource. I like the idea though...just get rid of stallman!!!
Probably a good idea. My original mockup used Linus Torvalds, but in the end Stallman just seemed funnier. Still considering Linus but will take other suggestions of recognizable peoplpe in the open source movement. Thanks for the comment.
Just pointing out, the ones are supporting the wrong group. The one in the old suit looking all business like is the PC, and the hip trendy one with the stylish goatee is the mac (subliminal message? not here.)
Actually, that was done on purpose to show that neither mac nor PC have faith in their own OS's. Mac excited that PC is gettin' a Dell. PC says stick with mac. Only 'Stallman-in-a-box' (and the open source user taking him home) believes his own propaganda. The text is really an afterthought, not sure the final version will have it. I think the picture is enough of a statement on it's own (assuming people recognize Richard Stallman).
