I'd like to thank all you nice people out there in Gnomeland who voted for my GDM theme, and the 37000+ who have downloaded it. It's nice to know I didn't waste my time.

Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
1.1 Bugfix - inserted password prompt text and removed extraneous text from username prompt, 4/3/07 (or 3/4/07 if you're of the American persuasion). Many thanks to miqster for the patch.

I've change a little the background wallpaper so it has a Linux Mint in the middle. You can get it in 1366x768 and 1280x1024 here: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=159908 BTW, awesome theme!
Using Karmic 9.10. Could you provide a guide to install this theme(& others). I tried using this method http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1333683 But it says invalid theme. Trying this method on other themes don't give the right result!
Also tried these... 1.gksudo -u gdm dbus-launch gnome-appearance-properties 2.http://www.ubuntumini.com/2009/09/hack-karmics-gdm-login-screen.html 3.Re-installation of gdm but doesnt work.
I love that dragon. then again, knowing where it came from is half the fun! for anyone interested, take a look at Backtrack (Currently v3, with v4 pre-release candidate) http://www.remote-exploit.org/backtrack.html its a penetration-testing liveCD. I used it a few years ago when I was doing computer forensics stuff in college. really sweet cd to play with!
This login and the matching wallpaper go with my domain name perfectly. Laptop is a Dell C610 named DragonFlight! I'm going to have to look for a way to change the lid to look like this. New emblem & either vinyl or paint.
It doesn't seem to work with gdm version 2.20.5
Works for me with gdm 2.20.7
Hey, just to let you know, the original artist has done a widescreen version of the background image (which I'm using, with your theme, on my machine here). You might want to make a widescreen version of your theme? The image just drops in :) Thanks for sharing! http://dragonkahn.deviantart.com/art/Sleek-and-Sporty-2-60881670
There is no graphic when one has to put in one's password to unlock the screen. When I tried it, it still showed me the login box/graphic from my earlier GDM theme.
Just fixed it. It took me a year to get around to it, but hey, better late than never, right? ;)
I'd like to have wallpaper with this dragon. Can you post link to this? Thanks
I put the link in the Description at the top of the page. The wallpaper is by Dragonkahn at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/528791/. The man's a genius. :-)
Here is a modified wallpaper. I bumped the coolness factor up a little by adding the word Linux in Japanese in lower right corner. http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=54485&PHPSESSID=2bd0dd345505803e94999fa4b690a167
Since i'm on GNOME 2.14.1 your gdm theme isn't walking...
is it normal that this wonderful gdm theme does not have the line "insert your password"? the fact is, i see it asks me to dial my usrname, but, after pressing "enter", the form for the passwd asks nothing. it is a small bug, can you fix it? thanks! grat theme anyway.
I made a small fix for this. Just add: <item type="label" id="pam-prompt"> <pos anchor="w" x="10%"/> <normal color="#FFFFFF" font="Bitstream Vera Sans Bold 10"/> <text/> </item> between <box orientation="vertical" min-width="400" xpadding="20" ypadding="20" spacing="10"> and <item type="rect"> <normal color="#000000" alpha="0.0"/> <pos anchor="n" x="50%" height="24" width="80%"/> <fixed> <item type="entry" id="user-pw-entry"> bxe Miq
where does this get put?
a lot of people have installed this theme, so I must be doing something wrong. When I try to install the .tar them file, I get a 'the file format is invalid' on this file. what am I doing wrong? other than that...can't wait to get it installed!
Have you installed the 'tar' and/or 'untar' packages? If you're using a Debian-based Linux, try 'apt-get install tar' in a console.
Very cool... I did two splash screen. One with fedora core 3 and nothing on the other. Let me know if you are interesting....
Sounds good, kunsel. I'd certainly like to see your work. :-)
Thanks for sending me the splash screens. I've installed one of them, and it looks great! :D If you haven't already done so, feel free to post it in the 'Splash Screens' section of gnome-look.org.
fantastic :) i'm not sure if i should ask it but will there be a kde version? i'd be soooo grateful!
Probably not, but feel free to make one yourself.
heh, i wish i could :)
