Elegant Pattern
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
My Gtk theme, based heavily on the Elegant Brit theme made by fmrbpensador. I took the background image from Mirav2 gtk (modified it ofc) and used the theme as a reference to learn how to implement it.
Attached are matching Xfwm, Metacity and Emerald themes (very slightly modified Elegant Brit ones). If you want a theme for Openbox or whatever else, search for Elegant Brit, it will fit perfectly.
There's also a userchrome for Firefox included. Just copy the file to your ~/.mozilla/firefox/something.default/chrome/ folder.
If you find bugs, please comment on them.
[edit] I added a toned down version, for those who don't like bright white. Take a look at the third screenshot. It's still all in one package. Last changelog:

Thanks for your theme and inspiration. I've just uploaded a murrine port and heavy modification of your theme here: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=114013. I just wanted you to know that you have followers ;). It also includes sort of a solution for the openoffice menubar bug the poster above complained about; it involves pointing openoffice to a second gtkrc file where the menubar is not black. Let me know what you think. Greetings.
Hi, the theme you talk about is actually inspired by Elegant for Rent, which is in turn a modified version of Elegant Brit, and it is me who took inspiration from Elegant Brit, not the other way around. So I'm in fact a follower ;) And I'll look into this openoffice solution when I have some more spare time, thanks!
The firefox fix (userChrome.css) you provided with the theme does not work with firefox 3.0.14 on Ubuntu Jaunty... :/ I'd really like to get this fixed because i really like this theme! It is very sexy :P Also my openoffice menu items font are all in black, so i can't see the menu... How do i fix this? I've searched and searched but can't find anything that actually works :/ Good work man!
I absolutely *love* this theme! However, one small issue: my menu disappears in Firefox. If I open Epiphany, the menu is there in white text against a black background. But in Firefox, the menu disappears until I mouseover and click on it; then the various menu choices appear in blue text against a square of gray. All other menus seem to be working fine. I have a screenshot of this, but am not seeing anywhere to upload the screenshot here. If you can instruct me (I'm new to Linux and this forum), I'll be happy to upload it for you. Thanks!
Thanks! Please read the theme description and other comments here, people keep asking about Firefox all the time :) In the package there's a file called 'userchrome.css', copy this file and put it into your ~/.mozilla/firefox/something.default/chrome/ folder.
Thanks! That worked perfectly.
I'm sorry but I found something wrong again. I tell this to you to make this theme perfect. If I type thunar in console for example, I have this message : ** (thunar:8703): WARNING **: Invalid borders specified for theme pixmap: /home/xavier/.themes/Elegant Pattern Dim/gtk-2.0/Lines/line-h.png, borders don't fit within the image I suppose this error can be found in other applications. I also have changed these two options, in order to see smileys in empathy, gajim... : gtk-button-images = 1 gtk-menu-images = 1 good evening ;) .
I noticed the first one myself, and fixed it, but I don't want to make an update with only this one small fix as it doesn't really change anything important. The second one is good to know, I don't use those applications so I would have never found that :) thanks, will change that and maybe upload both fixes together with the open box theme as soon as I get to test it :)
For the second, you must know that it make the theme less light as it was originally. There are icons in menus with this option. I prefer tell you this, because you may don't wan't this. :)
very very nice theme! there is an error in metacity, between title and minimize button
could you post a screenshot? it could be hard for me to fix as I don't have metacity anymore
I tried to make an openbox theme just for elegant pattern. Highlight button are white, menu is more blue, and osd is no more orange. Add it if you want. http://www.box-look.org/content/show.php?content=112020
Love the theme, it's innovative. Is that Conky you have running on your desktop? Or some other type of app such as a screenlet? TIA
Thanks, It's 2x Conky :)
It's really a few thing. Progressbar in transmission are invisible. Could it be fixed? If not, the theme is still my favourite!
Could you post a screenshot? I've got transmission but my build has no progress bars ;)
I've no progressbar too. That's what I wanted to mean. Sorry, my english isn't good...
No no no, I have no progress bar because I never had any progress bars in Transmission. My version of transmission just doesn't have any progress bars by default :) So I need a screenshot from you to know exactly what you mean, to see how transmission looks on your desktop with my theme.
Transmission with no progressbar? this exists? only in archlinux I suppose? :) here is my screenshot : http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/1466/200909132245131280x800s.png
Sorry it took so long, but I fixed it and you can download the new updated version now :) The funniest thing is, I was using my own themes even before I first used Transmission, so I thought my Transmission have no progress bars but they were just invisible all the time :D now I can see them, thanks.
Thank you! Sure, It's a big joke :D
I really love your theme! The buttons who fade on focus are a very good idea! I will keep this theme for a long time! A dark/black version in the future? Thank you for all!
I think I will leave making dark themes to those who like them ;) there are quite a few similar dark themes out there actually, search for 'elegant' in the themes section
Also thanks for the good words :)
excelent gtk-theme - very elegant. ;)
