Description: Equinox engine and themes packaged for Ubuntu.
The archive below contains three DEB packages : first install gtk2-engines-equinox, then equinox-themes and equinox-ubuntu-themes.
Launchpad PPA Equinox is available to install for Ubuntu users via a PPA repository. Open a terminal and run :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-equinox equinox-theme equinox-ubuntu-theme
Help Me!This looks awesome! Is there anybody, who could help me install this theme,I mean step by step?I'm basic linux user:( Tried to move it on Apearence Window, but it says"Not a apropiate theme file"
These are installation files (.deb). Extract the three files, and double-click on the file; follow the instructions. Install the "engine" file "first". Best if you do all of this from root nautilus - alt-F2 > gksu nautilus. Good luck!
First, thanks for the wonderful theme!
Additional to the non-transparent background problem in some tray icons, I've noticed that there's a tiny 1px disconnection in the borders of frames without titles. I have the image up on http://juneoh.net/temp/equinox.png but I presume this glitch can be easily reproduced..
For the non-transparent background of tray icons, comment the following line in gtkrc file:
bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = "images/panel_bg.png"
Which application is on your screenshot ?
Thanks for the tip! I'm on Windows now for some maintenance, but I'll try it on as soon as I get back on my Ubuntu.
The application on the screenshot was TrueCrypt. Hope it helps!
I worked fine for me. The installer just did what was expected and the theme appeard. Only the icons where missing. I installed the elementary icons... ready .. super cool...
Nice work! I love this theme a lot :)
I just have a small bug to report from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS: some system tray icons and widgets are not transparent so the background image of panels doesn't show up properly.
I have the same issue. Also, if you select 'Solid background' for the panel, those items aren't shaded like the rest, but have a flat background.
Having those issues fixed would make the theme perfect! Great job :)
Can't open or extract the archive:
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
It's the 5th time I'm trying to download the file...
And I can't compile from source, since ./configure returns "configure: error: GTK+-2.10 is required to compile equinox"
I had installed libgtk2.0-dev prior to that. (Ubuntu 10.04 32bits)
This is the error with rhythmbox:

I have no problems with openoffice using Radiance Glass.
It works with all of my apps just fine! Looks great and works well. Love the contrast and the fact that I can chose different colors. I really appreciate that.
I do have a question. Can you make the panel look like Radiance? I notice that your panel has a couple of 'flat' spots. Specifically, the 'Windows List' and 'calendar'. They don't have that uniform look the way Radiance does.
i really appreciate your improvements of the Aurora theme, Equinox looks awesome! It just looks ugly with OpenOffice and prevents Rhythmbox from running, rendereng the theme useless for me...
hello !
very nice work, great theme !
please provide us a 64 bit package and tell me where i can find this nice icon theme.
thank you very much
and... LINUX UBER ALLES
Great theme! The only thing that I would mention is that in Ubuntu Software Center, the nice purple progress bar is replaced by the highlight color - in this case, orange.
Other than that, this theme is splendid and has replaced the Ambiance theme for me.
Again, great job!
Thanks for report. I'll try to fix that as soon as i've got a (virtualized) fresh install of Lucid 64-bits.
I could also build build some packages for 64-bits systems.
