For anyone who needs further help regarding installation, there's a very good channel on youtube on tutorial giving introduction and installation procedure on different types of Linux themes. I think you'll find that helpful. http://www.youtube.com/wethepenguins01
When a version for the Ubuntu 11.10....
No Sound at all I tried the Compiz for the effects and it didnt work either btw, this is amazing
Quote:Although Macbuntu is dedicated to Ubuntu Linux OS, it could be used in other OS based on Debian/GTK.
i have tried this theme on a fresh debian 6.0.2.1 AMD64 install and i just wanted to report that
it works almost perfectly except for just 2things that is
1) The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_IndicatorAppletAppmenu".
2)The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_IndicatorApplet".
basically the lack of these 2 components results in having all the windows embed their own option bar instead of having the start bar showing the option bar of the currently focused window.
Aside from this the theme works perfectly (at least as far as I've noticed)
I suggest you to fix this little problem because it's actually a pity, it is almost perfectly working aside from 2 tiny details which do not seem to take too much time to fix.
hope my feedback was useful.
bye :-)
oh forgot 1 other thing after installing the theme, the login screen is still back to that of debian default; the theme fails to apply its own.

I have three ideas: 1. Make 2.4 (or 2.5 maybe) look more like Lion, especially by making the colors brighter and "softer". 2. A black variant would look very cool. 3. Release the icon pack as a separate component. I'm certain it would be a great alternative for the magnificent-yet-somewhat-boring Faenza Cupertino.;)
http://www.oslike.se/ I haven't tried it jet. Looks like there are some problems with unity and plymouth in version based on ubuntu 11.04. Will try both macbuntu distros as soon as they are downloaded suggestions: slingshot or takeoff (but it's made for KDE) - like "launchpad" on Lion natural scrolling https://github.com/cemmanouilidis/naturalscrolling early support for ubuntu 11.10 :) - I usually install development version of ubuntu when it's in alpha 2/3 faze and next version is coming soon p.s. Author of this distro is waiting too to see macbuntu 2.4 release :)
Do i just type in "install.sh"(after downloading of course) in the terminal or are there specific commands that i have to type in. If there is, please tell me in detail what to do.
You should read the description next time :) http://sourceforge.net/projects/macbuntu/forums/forum/1205032/topic/3819181 And bagley like jimmerlin suggests maybe we could see macbuntu distro?
can the 10.10 version be used with ubuntu 11.04 if I roll back compiz to 0.8.6?
Greetings! Macbuntu looks great! I'd like to use it on some old PPC Macs which are currently running MintPPC 9.2 with Gnome 2.30. In the near future can I install Macbuntu on them? Thanks! JimG
Sorry for the break, but I had a lot of work. I'm back, so maybe the new version? Unfortunately, I have a few bad news for those who expect great changes from Macbuntu. The interface remains the same, it means that Unity will be disabled. I love Compiz 3D Cube and I can not live without it ;) Three different types of installations: 1. Minimal - Standard options, Compiz is disabled, 2. Standard - like Mac OS X, Desktop Wall, 3. Max - Full Compiz support, 3D Cube, Wobbly Windows, Scale, etc. What's new in version 2.4: - Nautilus Elementary, - Macbuntu GTK theme based on KDE4-Oxygen and GTK Leopard, - Docky or Cairo-Dock, - Glippy, - Screensavers, maybe: - Google Gadgets, - Gloobus Preview, If disable of Unity, you think is a bad idea, or you have some cool ideas, I'm waiting for suggestions :)
You are back, such a relief! :) Desperately waiting for next release. Suggestion - - If Unity can be tweaked in dock or so.
I loved the Macbuntu Theme on Mint 10, hoping it's available for Mint 11 (i.e. Ubuntu 11.0.4).
Kudo to the great work you got me back to linux again, can't wait to see the new version, cause unity sucks big time... maybe you can go big and make it a standalone release to save us the hassle .. cheers
Hey there, Great theme! Is it possible to replace the apple logo with a gnome foot? Thanks :-)
you can change the apple gnome menu icon. See a example to change by a macbuntu icon not a eal macos icon. http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Gnome+menu+Icon?content=141658
sorry for my english! macbuntu runs at my tablet but i need to change two setting. how can i change the settings from the slider and radio buttons? i must have bigger slider and radiobuttons for fingerwork. best regards from germany and thx for all answers.
You should release your icon theme alone, as it could be a great alternative to Faenza Cupertino. It's a big waste that an icon theme that good is available only as a part of a bigger transformation pack.
Thanks for your job. I have to admit that my "orgasmic" theme is a mix between the yours and the macbuntu one. I mean replace in the MacBuntu the Pill-shaped and Glass Buttons, scrollbar .... with the imetal style. I was looking for that since years but I haven't enough skills to do it. N.B: In the Last Mac OS X Lion, Apple abandoned the pill-shaped style. Hope some one can do that imetal : http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/iMetal+Leopard+Krytarik?content=139562
