Description: OK, here's a quick blue clearlooks theme I made. In the screenshots I use sharp corners instead of the default clearlooks rounded ones... to do that you need to download the gtk-engines source and edit the clearlooks_draw.c file. In there, find the clearlooks_rounded_rectangle function, and remove all but the lines starting with "cairo_move_to" inside that function.
EDIT: Oh, there's also a version without the coloured menubar included in the tarball.
EDIT EDIT: You probably need a fairly recent version of the clearlooks engine to use this. It works fine with a recent cvs build.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: Added a link to the clearlooks_draw.c that I use. I have just checked out a fresh cvs build of gtk-engines, and this file works fine with it, but YMMV. I take no responsibility for your computer becoming sentient and raping your pet cat after compiling with this file.
**NOTE: These themes are now pretty much obsolete, because my rezlooks gtk engine does what these do and more. See http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=39179 for more info.Last changelog:
0.1: Initial release
0.2 (15 Feb 2006): Added darkgreen colour. Changed the names a bit.
What Window Manager are you using and what theme? I have tried the Metacity Rezlooks that someone had posted and just did not have the same look and feel.
Awesome btw.
I use openbox. I change my themes all the time, and instead of making new themes I tend to just edit the theme in place, so I don't think I have the themes in the screenshot any more, sorry.
I like the rezlooks theme, but I can't figure out how to install it. It's added to System/Settings/Themes now but when I choose the rezlooks-blue as Application theme I don't get the blue stripe.
Is there any additional steps I need to follow?
Umm... I really don't know what system/settings/themes is - here's how I install it.
cd ~/.themes
tar xjf /path/to/theme.tar.bz2
Then you can select it from whatever app you use to change your gtk2 theme.
I installed your theme by extracting the file and then create a tar.gz archive. Then I drag the file and drop it in the theme preferences dialog.
I get this message "Controls Theme rezlooks-blue correctly installed.
You can select it in the theme details."
Now I choose rezlooks-blue in theme details. But I don't get the blue stripe. Your theme is just controls, right? But the controls a get looks not good at all.
What is clearlooks_draw.c source? Do I need that?
OK then that is your problem. That is too old a version of the clearlooks engine. You have to grab it from cvs. If you don't know how cvs works, have a look at http://developer.gnome.org/tools/cvs.html.
Which version of clearlooks are you running?
I Synaptic in Ubuntu it says that my version of clearlooks is: 1:2.7.4.is.2.6.8-Oubuntu1
I'm running a beta of Ubuntu and this should be a new version?
I don't want to get it through CVS
I have no idea how the clearlooks versioning scheme works... all I know is that if you use a recent CVS version it works fine, I don't know how recent the ubuntu builds are. If in doubt, build from CVS. Otherwise I can't help you I'm afraid.
what file manager is that? it looks like thunar, I'm not sure though.
btw it looks grat, I'm gonna try it. but.. how can I make the engine te identify itself in a diferent way so I don't make every clearlooks theme squared?.
Yes, that's thunar.
And as for having both a normal clearlooks and a patched clearlooks engine installed at the same time, I don't think it's possible.
Well, of course it's possible, but I think it'd involve a ridiculous amount of work.
what I do is tar up a bkup and give them dates or descriptions. Then you can swith between them
ls /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.4.0
engines engines-01-08-2006.tar.gz engines-2005.tar.gz filesystems immodules loaders

Which browser is on the screens? Galeon?
Yeah, that's Galeon.

Sorry, it's actually System/Preferences/Theme, and that's where I find the Theme dialog in Ubuntu. But maybe you find it elsewhere.

I downloaded clearlooks engine 0.5 yesterday from art.gnome.org

Actually I just realized that the version with the coloured menubar is called razlooks-bluemenu now, not just rezlooks-blue. Try that.
Hi, The links are broken, it's impossible to download de .c files :-( Nevertheless, your theme is very great, I use it on my Ubuntu Breezy, it rox!
ok fixed the second link to the .c file... the first one is still broken though (I wish metawire would come back up soon).
I'm baffled as to how you achieved the look in the screenshots. It's a beautiful look.
I added a mirror location for the source file - for when the first link is down (like now).
What window manager and theme are you using on the first screenshot?
The WM is openbox, the theme is http://rezza.omgwtfbbq.us/webstuff/SolidBlueGTK.tar.bz2
