Description:
Styleclock is a themeable replacement for KDE's clock applet. It comes with an integrated alarm clock / timer.

The themes are bitmap based, so you can simply use gimp and a text editor to edit or create themes. These images are finally composed by a little ecmascript program, which makes it easy to create weird and innovative clock types.

To keep the cpu load low, styleclock uses OpenGL to scale and rotate the images.

The description for this applet is broken. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/styleclock/+bug/42779

http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/distfiles/styleclock-0.5.1.tar.gz the source from ubuntu has some errors when compiling. cause there are some themes' directories are empty, they have nothing to compile.

>cause there are some themes' directories are empty, they have nothing to compile. Some themes were removed due to fuzzy copyrights which would never get pasted the upload queue.

When using X composite extension styleclock seems to be "always on top". When I play, for example, some movie on fullscreen styleclock "pops" on top of this movie. This is annoying...

sgrayban

Doesn't compile under Mandriva 2006 at all. To bad too.. Was hoping it would.

download styleclock-0.3.1-2.i586.rpm from http://rpm.pbone.net/ (I know is for PLD linux) but installs and works fine. note: I had to install pcre-6.3-1mdk first.

Iam using fedora core 4 with kde-3.5 I build styleclock on my box. i use background image for my panel. When i add the styleclock 75% of the applet is black. When i refresh the screen it goes away and i can see the full applet? I think this code needs to be changed to take care of such issues ?

Georgo10

I have the same problem. But when I set up panel height to 30px, it's OK, but I'm using tiny size (24px).

aladrin

The clock face only updates when it changes. The face goes blank after you click 'ok' after updating settings. This means that if you disable the seconds display, it might be a full minute before it updates the face again and shows the time. Other than this issue, I love the clock.

aladrin

So, annoyed by this issue, I finally just patched the source myself. (Well, I did it a while ago, but I just found I had to re-do it as I changed computers.) if ((showSeconds == true && lastRedrawTime.second() != curTime.second()) || became if ((lastRedrawTime.second() != curTime.second()) || And now even if it's not showing seconds, it updates the display every second. This means the numbers won't disappear more than a second, and that's good enough for now.

aladrin

Grr, forgot the file. It's in: src/styleclockwidget/clockpaintview.cpp

just like the original clock in KDE, please add timezone or you may also think about porting your theme to the KDE clock, for KDE 4 maybe ?

uddw

It will replace the current clock in KDE4 once the library development of plasma has settled a little and once I've got some spare time again. Timezones will be supported.

pholie1

binary theme sucks, after i hover the clocks, the dots disappear :(

pholie1

not only binary, but seems that every theme

uddw

Consider this a OpenGL driver compatibility test ;) But it won't be using OpenGL in KDE4 anymore.

Hi Love styleclock and the centurion style! Centurion (or perhaps KDE 3.4.x's kicker) dont survive a swsup hibernate very well though. The graphics get all mangled on the clock and dont come back until kicker is restarted. Doesnt stop me using it, lovely.

uddw

I guess it is the OpenGL context which doesn't survive the suspend. Try running another gl app during a suspend cycle to verify this.

I remember the early days when Style Clock didn't have calendar support. That really bugged me, but now I'm revisisting it. Mostly because of the bindings and things that will be going into Plasma. One thing, which I've not looked into at all in your code, is why there is no window decoration around the calendar when it pops up from style clock, but there is for the old clock?

suslik

Congrats on tentative inclusion in Kicker 4.0. It mentions 3 themes will be there by default. Let us all know if any help is needed.
