Description:
almost anything is themed except the logout dialog.

here I made a simple patch and a config tool for kde-3.5.2 to enable theme support for ksmserver(logout dialog).

you need apply a patch to kdebase-3.5.2, and then install the theme and config tool.

then you can enable or disable the theme support in kcontrol center.
it works on the fly, you had no need to logout and relogin to get the changes.

THANKS to kdmtheme.

ksmtheme is just modified from kdmtheme.
Last changelog:

first version.

need more works:

1,xml theme description file.

2,the dialog layout and size is controled by theme settings.

Hi! The KCM config module was really crapped! I finally fixed it, if you want to use the thing really just get the patch here: http://dunkelstern.no-ip.org/arch/ksmtheme-fix.patch You don't have to be root now (that was hillarious because it didn't work even as root) and that dang thing doesn't crash anymore. Theme installing works also. And this one if you're on the current KDE: http://dunkelstern.no-ip.org/arch/kdebase-3.5.7-add-ksmserver-theme-support.patch (That one worked quite good :) )

Ok, I use Gentoo first of all, so I copied the existing ksnserver ebuild to my overlay and modded the ebuild to include the appropriate patch in your archive. emerged patched ksmserver 3.5.2 ok with patch. Then, I made an ebuild for ksmtheme and successfuly built it and installed it. Now, I go to Control Center, and KSM Theme shows up and it requires admin access to enable (probably should not as this should be per user unlike KDM manager which is legit to be system wide only). So, I enter admin access and it allows me to enable the KSM and click on the everest theme. Apply is still greyed out and only option I have is OK. CLick ok and then try and test. No change. I go back to KSM Theme and the enable box is empty again. What is wrong here?

I hope this patch will make it into KDE (maybe via a wishlist entry at kde.bugs.org?). I guess 90% of the people who want to use it can't use it because they would have to compile KDE.

It's ok to steal good ideas but I think this log out dialoge isn't good. This idea looks pretty better: http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview.php?preview=1&id=35450&file1=35450-1.jpg&file2=&file3=&name=%22Session+Manager%22 Coz there is a little discription for every option, it's simple and it looks pretty.

true, true. btw: what about choosing which os you want to reboot into? it's available now, and happens to be very useful sometimes.

1. you really don't need the windows logo on a linux box; 2. i'm not sure i want to compete with windows in the 1st place, but even if i did: learning from your opponents means adopting what they have better, and not simply copying the look; why do so many people on kde-look think the ideal look is that of windows? if you prefer windows, why do you use kde?

logixoul

Some of us don't have the money to buy Windows.

well, yes, ok, this is a good argument. i'm sorry i haven't thought about that. it's because i've never before heard of anyone who uses linux because he can't afford windows. anyway, i can't believe everyone who votes this sort of things up would in fact want to have windows but just doesn't have the money for it, so my question remains valid, i should think.

logixoul

this is a good argument. Thanks. it's because i've never before heard of anyone who uses linux because he can't afford windows. I, for one, do. Though it's not the only reason. i can't believe everyone who votes this sort of things up would in fact want to have windows but just doesn't have the money for it, so my question remains valid, i should think. Yep, that's indeed true. However, my post was directed at your last sentence only. Anyway, don't worry, I didn't vote it up.

also ksplash it's not themeable, or better it's not fully themeable, the default splash screen uses a static set of icons instead of using system's actual set, I think that this should be changed I know that there are different ones, but the default it's slightly broken in this aspect

motyR

yea, no doubt this is a good one, thumbs up for this lovely work :)

this is so not cool. Use windows if u like to look like this

franzf

Its just an example, make your own logout-dialog :P

informix

Why not cool. I hate this premises that windows is ... everytime. You have to learn from your opponents if you want to compete with them. I like your app, while I don´t like windows :D

Superstoned

this is cool!
