First, Congratulations!...
I like this much than kbfx...
kbfx looks ugly (for me)...
I patched KDEBASE 3.4 and works
fine... i thought wouldn't..
Some suggestions:
-- Can you use different Icons?..
-- like 32, 64, 128 to adjust size whenever taskbar changes..
-- you can name this klauncher32, klauncher64, and install a hook when the taskbar changes to reload the correspondent Bitmap...
May be to load a bitmap for the taskbar background an then this will shine... I Loved!!
If you think i can help just get me an introduction to what you do and i can code this myself and mail it to you for inclusion...
Sorry for my english!!
Bye..
Good Work
Yes, you can put klauncher.png in your favourite theme tree, inj 16x16, 32x32, 128x128 etc... I use Kiconloader so, the icon size is selected by the kicker height. You have to remove klauncher.png from /usr/share/icons and put it in size directories.
I'm working hard on the next version and I hope that someone will create a debian/kubuntu package.
I'll bring to you a new version ASAP that supports rollover effect and some other nice improvements.
Please be patient, with the new patchset I'll try to make debian packages even if you can download kicker sources from apt and patch them.
However, that's the power of Gentoo. Create and deploy source patches rapidly without problems ;)
Yes but kbfx uses bad tricks to get the things work properly, and it doesn't work under FreeNX.
If I click on kbfx button, my mouse cursor disappear and move to the top left of the kicker to be able to call and show properly KMenu.
Kbfx developer has done a good job but I wanted more... so I've merged his code with kicker code.
Please remember that's not a deep hack and it's my first attempt in QT/C++ learning.
KMenu style will be refreshed in the next KDE releases, so I leave this work to kicker maintainers.
the look of app bar and launch button is xp/longhorn style but the launch menu is win2000/9x style, you must make both (Nenu/Button launch and apps bar) more look/style compatible, is my opinion.
Thanks for the ebuild for the split packages, but can you post just the diff file. I have other patches to kicker and would like to try to apply this one also.
Can you post modified binaries for i586 ?
I like the idea and if you accept I'd like to make some suggestions:
- Have an option in kicker configuration to enable/disable klauncher.png instead of having to create/delete it each time.
- Package the buttons in a compressed pack which will include 3 states buttons and Internationalizied versions including Right-to-left languages.
- Make possible to have text (Rich Text?) on the image instead of add it IN the image ( This will internationalization easier )
- Use SVG ( Very important, if implemented the user won't have to resize kicker bar )
- Animated SVG to have better FXs ?
but it won't show up, I copied klaunh 22x22 size png to /usr/share/icons and icons/hicolor and icons/hicolor/22x22/ and hicolor/22x22/actions and /opt/kde/share/icons and the sub directories.
I copied the png image as klauncher.png as you've suggested. What am I doing wrong?
you have to restart kicker. From shell do: "dcop kicker kicker restart" or simply restart KDE, If it finds klauncher.png in icon path, it will show up.

Thanx, nice work how i can install it? I have SuSE 9.3, what file i must change?
Has this been sent to the kicker developers?
When a tarball for others LINUX system using KDE

You know very well that I'm not dead! but very neat work.. Hacking I guess is the gentoo style! so keep hacking! bye
An applet is better than modification in the core. I am for KBFX, no need to recompile kdebase or whatever... :-) Anyway, happy hacking...

here you are :)
I'll wait till theres a Slackware package form so all I have to do is download it & use the Slackware Package manager. ;)
I only wanted that a launcher button works correctly under a NX Session and this is the result. I repeat, Gentoo ebuild will follow soon.
