im going to completly redo the graphics on thsi. i just released it now so that i could get suggestions on it and hear peoples opinions. this is my first karamba theme so im not 100% sure how to do everything i want to.
the progress bar doesnt work. its just static at 21 like i set it. im not sure how ill get it working. i can get info for the current track time and total track length in mm:ss format. is it possible to get a percentage out of those two to use for a progress bar?
i can get the url for the album cover using a terminal command. can i get the output of that command to open with kuickshow?
add, list and rnd dont seem to be doing anything. i #'d their lines, but i kept what i thought they should be until i figure that out.
right now, im going to work on looks, and when it works right, ill release an improved one.

redid the graphics, hopefully i can make it work better later. the buttons are still a work in progress, but this is pretty much what it will look like(screenshot 3). it wont let me change screenshots for some reason, so i had to keep the first two.

added a second screenshot. this shows what its going to look like. obviously, i still need to do the buttons and the volume controls.

i stopped working on this cause the dcop uses soooo much CPU(20-30%) that it ruines the whole thing. is everyone else experiencing this? hopefully amarok is updated and fixes this problem, or someone points out a fatal error in my coding(although ive been over it many times, i cant see anything)
I'll check it out on my laptop and see what's going on. What are your system specs?
Your intervals are way to short for a couple of them lines. I changed all the intervals to be at least 2000 (ie 2 seconds). That helped a lot. And keep in mind you don't really need to update the volume/text/etc. more than once a track anyway. Once you convert this to python, it will be much easier to manage as far as cpu usage. Check this out: http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/view/125 dcop in python. Much better than using the .theme approach.
cool. i just wish i had more time... its still a great learning experience.
If you want, I could pick this up and try to implement it in python for you. Just email me if you are interested.
great work!
If you need help on using the superkaramba api or using python, drop into the superkaramba forums. I'm sure that we can help. The progress bar should be easy. Using the output from a term command into kuickshow may be a little more difficult, but doable.
thanks. ill be sure to drop by and figure this thing out. at least now i know its doable. i have no idea how to use python though, the only programming experience i have is vb.net in 'doze. i realy want to learn how to do this.
Python is really easy to pick up, especially if you have some prior coding experience. It's very readable and easy for beginners.
Cool Design !!
