Description: I decided to release an independent modified version of my Furius Weather superkaramba widget which was originally released as part of the Furius Karamba Suite.
This is my attempt at a suitable attractive alternative to the excellent Liquid Weather widget, which, for all its many positives, I believe takes up too much desktop real estate.
I have kept this widget as simple as possible to promote community customization. The icon scheme is compatable with those of Liquid Weather and the background image can be easily replaced with one of the users own choosing (just get the size right!). A version is also available which does not contain a background image (Furius Weather Mini), for the minimalists amongst you! Placing your mouse over the image displays the full forecast.

Installation:
This theme requires python-elementtree. This should be available from your distributions repositories (In python 2.5 ElementTree is part of standard "libs").
The download archive comes with two versions, FuriusWeather24 and FuriusWeather25; these correspond to your version of python, for example, if you are running python 2.4 you need to run the theme from FuriusWeather24, if you are running python 2.5 you need to run the theme from FuriusWeather25.
Setting Your Location, unit preference and browser:
You need to open the FuriusWeather.py file in your favourite text editor. You will see the following section near the top of the file:

Comment/uncomment to select your desired measurement unit and web browser. Change the location code to match your desired city. To find your location code: 1. Visit http://weather.yahoo.com/ 2. Enter you city in the search box and click 'Go' 3. You will be sent the the weather page for your desired city. 4. The URL of this page will look like this (I have chosen Berlin) - http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/GMXX0007.html 5. Your locationCode is the value between 'http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/' and '.html', (GMXX0007)
To Change Icon Set:
1. Visit http://liquidweather.net/icons.php 2. Download an icon Set 3. Replace the large_icons with the contents of the large_icons folder from your downloaded icon set. 4. Reload theme.Last changelog:
It looks so great in the desktop that I tried to put it in the task bar. I used "add widgets" and dragged and pasted the icon to the task bar. I was prompted to select a theme and I used the default. I ended up having an icon which is too big for the task bar. I tried to delete it using the "add widgets" option and as a result now I have three (!!) plus one in the desktop, none of which I can delete now.

OK, I found the solution to this... you need to edit ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc. I wrote about this in my blog:

Hmm when i use this theme in conjuction whith Furius Pop Mail it seems like both locks up sometimes - reloading the theme has no effect - last time i erased Furius Weather and reinstalled it and after that both themes work again - i know network failure is not the problem coz i checked yahoo weather meanwhile in the browser - Strange indeed

The web address for the yahoo weather service has changed. Now I'm getting 176deg F!! Anyone know how to fix this?

Any chance of proxy support?
The weather module is not working for me with a code of USNY1232. Maybe because a USA code?
This works perfectly for me. One note however, I had to copy na.png to 3200.png to have the widget display an icon when the forecast was "Unknown".
