Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
similar as possible. if anyone knows how to make the password-field appearing with a mouseclick, please contact me.
would be nice to have it identically.

Yes,- i know, linux is better than windows.
But there are people out there, who needs to be in a familiar environment when starting a computer.
For those people i made this theme.

to put things right just from the beginning:
As long as there are unskilled people who wants linux looking similiar to XP,
there should be skilled people who make things looking similar to XP..

Kde-Look sometimes doesn't handle the file in any way. So i have to post the direct link here:

Please update the download link. I really need this topic, but the download links do not work!
some things about this kdm theme: 1- the components in my screen aren't in the correct place, maybe by the screen size, then the logon form is over the "user image logo". 2- i have multi-user accounts, so i don't see the other account. good, i think is because the problem with the click. 3- could you replace the windows logo and the windows xp text by a Tux image and a simple Linux text? the rest... is good. i joke with my friends about my kde-xp appearance.
I'm trying to upgrade my handyman's machine and give him an XP feel, but everytime I click on the "download" link I get "Not Found". Is it no longer available?
fuj ty hovado :-!
anyways.. Windows sucks!
what is this about, a majority of people on kde-look want to make KDE look like windows, why?? the friggin' thing even sais Windows XP, its not windows XP its Linux!
It's no different than those kbfx "start" menus,K menus with the Apple (Computer) logo or the tuxintosh themes and icons. They're all over the place. And just like this one, they don't make any sense. You're absolutely right. This is Linux (or *bsd,,,,) people! I don't get it either.
If someone like look of Windows XP or Mac OS X, it's his choice. We all have different taste, there is nothing bad about mimicking look of some other OS. This is power of open source - you can make something look exactly as you like it, nothing can stop you!
Does this match the XP style splash screen well?
...i don't like the windows look. And I think it's strange to mix up FreeBSD and Windows - but what's wrong with being strange? I will not download it, but you'll get my "good"-vote :)
Thank you! That will come in handy for a joke I'm gonna pull on a friend. Boy will He be surprised when he discovers the truth about my OS (probably will take him a few minutes to realize he's not working in windoze).
Hehe!! Go for it... "Bring him down like a shotgun..." --SWAT
There are people who like the look of Windows XP and I see nothing wrong with it. Although I'm not a fan of "the green button and the blue bar" (strange mix), I still think that everyone have the right to choose. It could also be a great camouflage for your Linux (e.g. at work) ;)
...don´t like it ...
I guess this is only good if you want to go for that confuse people into thinking their using Windows XP. Hmmmmmmm, this is gives me some ideas. But other then that, I really don't see why?
So, you add this theme and trick a user into believing he/she has windows XP. Wouldn't you want to be there when they tell other windows users..."no, my system never crashes!" Priceless....
Hey I think maybe some people get upset cause they pay for thier linux. It's a free world and if your using linux hopefully your using a free distro and making a nice little donation for the cause. If you wanna skin out your superior OS go for it. You truly have the right and you will have satisfaction that under that skin lies the yummy sweetness that is Linux. I skin out my xp pc to resemble my Kanotix so the little time that I am forced to spend on it is as painless as possible. I must say the dirty sludgy feeling still permeates. yuck
I like the look of linux. I like the look of kde, gnome, xfce, blackbox, fluxbox, enlightenment, ect. Lets make sure we keep our morals up here.
Linux is strong, because it is modular and flexible. The strength of linux is also hidden in its capabilty of changing its interfaces to make it as usable as possible. If you like Linux, it doesn't matter what it looks like. But if you like that worthy feeling of beeing "unique" or "individual" or beeing the member of a "really cool group", you don't really like Linux, but only what it makes you feel. Keep this in mind if you ever argue against something "other". Now, there was made another Logo for that theme, and i'm glad to see, there are people standing silently aside, enyoing the theme: Open-minded People without prejudices... Thats's what linux need. Thanks to A. S. Yatulchik for this nice bsd-logo ! I will put in online as soon as posssible.
a part from this being pretty useless and ugly, but... "thorwalds"? WTF?
Am i wrong that the unix kernel was programmed by Linus Thorwald ? (Maybe it's misspelled..)
*Torvalds
As the first one answered: His name was Torvalds. And NO, he did not write the Unix kernel. He wrote the Linux Kernel back in 1991.
mfriedrichs, please don't be offended. If this is what makes you happy, if you like it, that's great. And you do have a right to share it here. But I have to understand the comments before mine. Being a computer builder/vendor I've sold and supported Windows machines, that was until 6 years ago. Windows was, IS, such a horrible OS (its really a GOS, Gaming Operating System). It cost a fortune to support and doesn't do a tenth of what Gnu Linux, The BSDs and other REAL Operating Sytems can do. M$ didn't / doesn't know enough about its own product's behavior and problems, to offer any real support. I speak from experience. It took me 15 mins to convince an MS tech person that MS Word, was an MS product. Out of curiosity, I test all the other version of windows, only to find it just keeps getting worse. Linux shouldn't emulate a bad OS that comes from a company that views the people of this world as cash cows and slaves. I'm very angry with the recent trend of calling directories "Folders". Its misleading, which, I suspect, is why M$ began doing it. To miss-education the user. 90% of all windows users I know, can't use a computer. They don't really understand the first thing about it. That's just wrong as well. I have a feeling that you're an XP user exploring Linux. You like it and the freedom it offers but you're not comfortable enough to leave windows. That's ok, give yourself time. Once you see the beauty and power of FOSS, you will never look back. "You must learn the ways of the Source young one" BorgQueen steps off her soapbox.
i often use a windows-like theme to irritate my roommate (he's a microsoft-programmer in training) and this will work well for that. nice job on the cloning
