Description: A very old mockup, only storing it here for historic purposes. Nevertheless, it would still be nice if something like this would be possible with GTK.
See XMMS... You can do everything if you just draw everything inside the application. If you want to keep it generic and themable, then you have to present a concept, not a mockup. What kind of generic ability or widget would you add?
I remember trying this, but XMMS themes only support 256 colors, the same with the (more flexible) xmms-kjofol theming.
Also, I see no reason why this would not be possible to implement in a generic way.
