Is great but all the script doesn't work. Is not just that, the youtube script I use isn't working either, I think that's for the update that youtube had yesterday.
ok now you can choose the ext of the video (and so ffmpeg behaviuor) by changing the first var at the very beginning of the script. No need to edit anything but the var! :)

What about a Python version of it, with PyGTK and maybe some other features (video informations, preview)?
Well, that would be awesome! But I don't know python, I'm just playin' around with bash script and zenity.. :( Sorry
Once you've download a video you can encode it to .avi or .mpg with your script?
as long as it uses ffmpeg you can do whatever you want. I set avi by default but you can just edit the script to fit your needs! :)
