I don't like the standard one, so i decided to built this!
If you want use it open gconf-editor, go to apps->panel->objects and find the object that has:
object_type: menu-object
so here you could enter the path of the image you would like to use as menu button. Dont forget to check the "use custom icon" box...

It's not a good idea, imho. I have tried Suse gnome menu in my Ubuntu and rolled back to the old one, because it provides a simplier and clearer method of the essential things, like choosing an application or browsing file system. With traditional Apps-Places-Prefs menu it takes one step less than with Suse-style menu and much faster, because of bad placing of elements in Suse menu.
yes maybe :D but i prefer have just a button ;) it's too big for me the standard menu...
