Description: First attempt at creating a splash screen. Based on a Star Trek wallpaper. I have a screenshot loaded up here that shows the same wallpaper on my desktop (only screenshot I have up, so easy to find). I'm using this on my machine now.
The file is presented as a ".tar.gz" file, but, in fact, it is a ".tar.bz2" file. Then, to uncompress it, you have to do a tar -xvjpf 11832-stsplash.tar.gz
I'm a relative newb...
For some reason I have never figured out how to get new fonts to work for Gimp.
I've downloaded dozens of fonts that I use in OpenOffice.org, but I can't seem to get the same fonts working in any other application, at all, actually, like KOffice, Abi or Gimp. So, I lack access to any realkly good fonts in Gimp and end up using the fwe crappy ones that come bundled with it...
Anyone know of a good font how to?

...but i would change the font of the kde-text and the color. maybe a softer, spacy look?
