I like this splash screen a lot more than the other one you had posted. I like the vertical rectangle. I agree with the Emon's comments about the font too. But I've no idea which font would look good.

While it is true that there isn't actually a KDE logo on this, the Crystal look itself is rather unique and thus says "This is KDE". I know that there are Crystal like icons for other OSes and desktops, but Crystal itself is rather unique in its pseudo-minimalist look (where other similar sets are more naturalistic).

Looks cute, but I don't like the font. It does look neither "professional", nor very "business-like".
I know that but I wanted to do a funny version with wacky font :).
Cool design. But I think there is something missing that points out that it's got something to do with kde.
