I agree with wolf the previous boot screens were alot better looking than what is currently used i was thinking the same thing unfourtunatly im in the same delema as you i dont know how to do it

it loks good, but the default IMO still looks better. I have a request from you, while I think the 8.0 splash screen looks good I think the 7.2 and 7.3 splash screens looked much much better, can you take the 7.3 splash screen from the evaluation version
(which you can ge there: http://linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=2) and than submit it to KDE-LOOK.org? Please , I would do it myself but I do not know how. Please help me.
