Description: A Splash Screen inspired by the trueNature Splash Screen which is popular.
I have no idea who took the picture. I've had it on my harddrive for a while and like it very much. I found it with google quite a while ago. I've only added the black fading bar in the center.
This is my first contribution, I've only been using Linux for a few weeks.
The wallpaper can be found here... http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=53483
edit: March 13 2007 I've created a KDM theme to match the wallpaper and Splash Screen. It can be found here -> http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=54522 Or download from this page.
UPDATE: The person who took the picture of the harddrive has contacted me. So I can now direct the credits for this beautiful picture in the right person. Copyrights for this picture are in hands of the photographer who I must thank for letting me use the picture. The original source of the picture is http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/33474707/ Take a look at the gallery to http://fanatic-alien.deviantart.com/gallery/Last changelog:
- Added KDM theme for download
- Added wallpaper for download
- The splash screen is using the Amarath icons now, instead of the icons used by the system.
i'm not really sure how im supposed to get the login screen to work. i loaded the image in the control center but when i reboot it only flashes and the the suse's default blue screen pops back up. i'm sure it has something to do with the .xml included in the tarball but what do i do with it? love the project by the way.
I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm running Kubuntu Feisty here. Sorry I can;t help you I'm afraid.
You're free to edit the files yourself of course!
Thank you for the compliment!
ok so now i'm running feisty as well. much better than that resource hog opensuse. anyways, same problem friend. i try to install it with kdm theme manager and it doesnt see the file. a shame cuz i really like this one.
Exaclty...
Run from console...
$ sudo apt-get install kdmtheme
$ sudo kcontrol
...and type "kdm" in the searchbox within kcontrol. You'll find the "KDM Theme Manager" and be able to install the theme.
There is a problem with the theme manager that makes it impossible to install themes if you don't run kcontrol directly as root. The problem exists for a long time and no one seems to find it important enough to fix :)
Dear Bram, have no words to say. It's great. Just one request. Can you please fix it (as wallpaper) at 1280x1024 as well. I'm completely new in Linux (just 2 days now) and i don't know how to do it myself. One more question. What's the KDM?
Thanks anyway and good afternoon from Greece.
A KDM theme is a login screen-theme.
You'll need the KDM theme manager to install and select it. It can be found here -> http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/KDM+Theme+Manager?content=22120
Compile and install it. Then you'll be able to install and change themes from kcontrol or systemsettings.
Thanks for the compliment :)
Welcome to the Linux world -- I think you'll enjoy it a lot more than that other operating system! I've been purely Linux on my computer for the last 2 years and don't even NEED that other OS anymore. :-)
can you plz post the picture without the black fading bar as a wallpaper or send it to me via e-mail.I love the background and the splash screen is unfortunatelly already taken by penguin evolution
