Description:
GetCrystal is a script that downloads the latest version of the Crystal
icons RPM from the Conectiva site, strips all unnessasary files and
repacks it as a tarball.

This script is totally legal!

Old versions 1.0 and 1.1 can be found here: http://www.maasonline.nl/GetCrystal/GetCrystal-1.0.tar.gz
Last changelog:

* Added mirror functionality
* Works better on non-x86 systems
* Smaller script

i like the icons and i'd like to use them, but i'm not able to install icons! i'm using mandrake linux 9, kde 3.0.3. everytime when i load the tar.gz-package and click on "install new design" (it should be translated correctly nothing happens! what's wrong here? please help me. ------- Und das ganze nochmal auf deutsch, falls mir hier ein Deutscher helfen kann: Immer wenn ich Icon-Packages reinlade und auf "neues Design installieren" klicke, passiert gar nix. Weder als User, noch als root.

i wish everything could be so painless. A deaf, blind, stupid, and armless person could have done that. WOW -ZennouRyuu

I still cannot get crystal installed. I downloaded and tried 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. I have tried to edit line 57 as mentioned earlier, but I run into the same problems. Finally, we have to repack the icon files into a new tarball. ./GetCrystal: cd: crystal-icons-tmp/usr/lib/kde3/share/icons: No such file or directory I'm running RH7.2 and /usr is the kdedir. So, my icons are under /usr/share/icons. If anybody has any help, I would be most appreciative.

0. Login as root 1. Make sure you can use via wget a ftp server, i.e. you are behind a firewall. 2. Make sure alien is installed. 3. Edit the script on line 57 to tar cvfz /crystal-icons.tar.gz ConectivaCrystal > /dev/null 2>&1 Now you can use /crystal-icons.tar.gz

i just noticed that the /16x16/filesystems/folder_open.png is in fact not 16x16 ... it's 18x18 ... when u use as much folders as i am in kmail (as much as i am means: scrollbar starts appearing to navigate to all those folders) sometimes some ugly stripes starts appearing. for those of you who also recognized that .. simply resize that one to 16x16 (woooow .. what a hint ;-) .. maybe everaldo wants to fix this in his release .. rgds marc'O

You know, I've downloaded several editions of the Crystal Icon theme (now beta 2) and I can't get *any* one to put crystal icons across the menubars on kmail or konqueror (or any other app either). In otherwords, the icon buttons at the top of each of these are the old icons. Other icon themes still work. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm using a self compiled kde3.

ZIOlele

have you tried to change the dimensions of the menubars' icons?? If i remember correctly the crystal icons theme has only 22x22 or even 16x16 icons, again i may be wrong...

Ah perfect! Thank you!

Nothing to add except that it works, does exactly what it should. Took a little while on a modem connection though. Good work!

sewagemaster

excellent idea. i havent tested the script out yet. you cant go any legal-er than that ;-)

SuGa

is it just me, or is the donwload broke? the rpm is corrupt and the tgz empty. :(

Niek

Please try version 1.1, that should solve the problem ;)

SuGa

no. i always get 404. seems like it doesn't find the file on the server. perhaps the * is the problem.

Niek

Strange? Th escript is working well here... Perhaps you have a outdated wget version? You can try to change the * into -45cl.i386.rpm, that should work. bye, Niek.

I had a similar problem. It turns out the processing doesn't like spaces in file or directories. For example, it failed with a directory called "Download files", but when I changed the name to "Downloads" everything went fine.

linux4e

I had the same Problem, too. Try an other mirror, but not the mirror from netherland! With the Brasil mirror all run fine!

ethomasii

Man, was that easy... thanks!
