which font is that, so `square´?
Go to www.pwsp.net, contact paleo@pwsp.net and he will give you free hosting, address like: what_you_want.pwsp.net and a lot of services - for free! (only if you have some KDE-related project -- you have) My icons(omicrOn) are hosted there too, and Nuove XT
This is a great concept, I really like it, keep it up !
if there is no white background then you can only use them on lite backgrounds
It's not only possible with icons, it's possible with fonts too. I made a similar theme for my own use, then it was destroyed (maybe the work was saved in openclipart.org), after a friend of mine saw it.:) I recommend: make it vectorial(inkscape), it will be not ugly, and scalable. Then you could automaticaly generate the theme or use directly svg icons.(no problems). In the future it will be able to re-use your hard work, or paint automaticaly all the icons...
well im saving them as svgz so its smaller well it says its compressed so im assuming it is and by that im sure you guessed im using inkscape im starting out with all the icons on my desktop yano then filling in as i go so its a work in progress
I would leave all the background transparent! Only the writing should be black, and thus no white background. Otherwise it will only look good with a few colour schemes.
either that or i could do one in black and white and one in grey so then you can change it to any color using the kcontrol center ;) cuz i think it changes it to grey scale and then it changes the color soooooo the white theme wont change color but if i make a grey one also than it should work fine and it doesnt look very good when you can see thru them it doesnt look clean enough
I think this icon idea has potential. It needs a lot of work still, and would definitely take a fair amount time. Best idea I found is to use The GIMP and then resize your icons to the common size (168, 124, 64 and so on...). When the time comes (whenever that shall be) I'd be happy to make a promotional picture/banner to use on, well whatever, giving people an idea what this theme actually is. Cheers and keep at it. Sometimes the simpler ideas take long to appear. This is amazing, nice concept. I like it, keep working :)
it's a great begining and i would like to try this theme on my desktop. Should it be just "black on white" or there could be a colored version? White on black also would be great.
well it isnt going to be done for a long time im doing them all by myself and u know how it is its taking quite a long time soooo i dont think I will be making a colored version but when im done your welcome to try ;)
...original. I would not use that kind of icon theme, but it looks cool and fresh. It's noy blue at least :) I think others will apreciate this kind of theme - maybe even it will be included in kdeartwork (who knows). Keep up your work.
yes yes yes there are many blue icon themes hehe
well they arnt REALLY hand written im actually using other icon sets for references and drawing them going by what other people have already done since im not imazingly artistic i just had a good idea lol and im using inkscape lol its kinda hard but you know how it goes u have to do what you have to do, oh yes sir-e ;)
I really like the idea of a fully handwritten icon set, but it sure would take a long time. Are you just sketching each icon with a graphics tablet or something?
I like the icons - don't really like the picture of person blowing their brains out though...
I second this entirely. The person blowing their brains out is not something i enjoy, but the concept of the icons is amazing. There is truly a set that needs doing here. It'll take a lot of work, but it will be greatly rewarding in the end. An entire desktop themed in this manner would be something to show off ;)
