Description: Minitube is a native YouTube client. With it you can watch YouTube videos in a new way: you type a keyword, Minitube gives you an endless video stream. Minitube does not require the Flash Player.
Minitube is not about cloning the original Youtube web interface, it aims to create a new TV-like experience.
I'm trying to open a particular youtube page in minitube but it only allows opening by search, if I place the web address (http://www.hulu.com/watch/276685/new-girl-pilot) a different video (Minecraft: "Shadow of Israphel" Part 1: Crash and Burn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gi9-UZKYo4) opens and plays. If I search in minitunes I get valid search answers but not the one I'm looking for.
Could you add the option to open an actual YouTube address?
Hi, I saw the todo list. What if related videos for currently playing video would appear as a "leafs" of currently playing video (under it, padded a bit to the right, so it would be obvious that they are subvideos) :) ? I think it would be easy and good solution..

This release introduces YouTube channels support in Minitube. At first I thought it would be just a minor feature. You just search for a username instead of keyword. No big deal. Boy, I was wrong. While trivial from a technical perspective, being able to watch YouTube channel in Minitube brings a whole new depth to the application. Discovering channels is easy thanks to the autocomplete popup, which suggests the most relevant channels for a given keyword.
Version 1.4 also fixes many playback problems. Some of them are actually caused by slow YouTube streams. Minitube now tries very hard to get a fast stream and discards slower ones.
Linux CLI users will enjoy a small new feature. Minitube now can be launched from the command line specifyng a keyword or YouTube URL.
I was offline for some weeks, so I couldn’t do any packaging.

here are 1.2 packages for maverick, lucid will come soon, hopefully. These packages use gstreamer backend, so if you are upgrading from Lucid’s original package some new packages are pulled in.
Nice app! You should add the official website to this kde-apps project page.
Furthermore, I would suggest not to start the video automatically on clicking on the "most ..." tabs. So you could browse the different results before launching a new video.
it would be nice, if playing downloaded (local) files in the download-view directly.
Maybe people like to change the position of the toolbar and also its size.. (like dolphins toolbar).
The toolbar might be useless in the welcome screen, because it is only deactivated.
anyway, i like the app, and it works really fine.
so what's the solutions?
open a browser :D
really i didn't see this software works good on kubuntu default installation.
other stuff works pretty good here.
Since 2 days i cant play videos with minitube
Network error: "Error downloading http://www.youtube.com/get_video_info?video_id=6qvSUAuT7wQ&el=embedded&ps=default&eurl=&gl=US&hl=en - server replied: Payment Required" 299
GET "http://www.youtube.com/get_video_info?video_id=6qvSUAuT7wQ&el=vevo&ps=default&eurl=&gl=US&hl=en"
This is a verry nice application!
Can you add a playlist tab to the tablist where I can drop videos to queue and play them?
And can you add a download/save function?
That would be verry nice.
just a thought (maybe a good one, maybe not)
found this greasemonkey script for FF that views the video in m44 using mPlayer or vlc plugins - what's should interesting about this is that it should allow hw acceleration using the gpu (if Nvidia's vdpau is present) something not available with Linux Flash (http://blogs.adobe.com/penguin.swf/)
"Youtube without Flash Auto"
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/50771
currently I don't use the script because I use Opera and it doesn't seem to work there
thanks,
This is a beautiful application, but suffers somewhat from a missing "Download video" feature. As is, i have to use eltube or some web alternative to do this, which is a shame.

well this was stupid on my part - please ignore
Can you make this compatible with Firefox FlashVideoReplacer plugin so that it starts video in fullscreen and quits after video finishes?
Note: To accomplish this, video URL resolution must be skipped since addon offers the right one by itself.

works well. v1.2 is still missing in the repository.
Could you add an option to save the audio stream as an mp3 file? Thanks for the great work...
nice ideas but... [h264 @ 0x8ca8580]AVC: nal size 14071 [h264 @ 0x8ca8580]no frame! [h264 @ 0x8ca8580]AVC: nal size 47790 [h264 @ 0x8ca8580]no frame! "it" doesn't suck at all. You have an issue with your phonon backend.
so what's the solutions? open a browser :D really i didn't see this software works good on kubuntu default installation. other stuff works pretty good here.
I use mplayer phonon backend under arch linux. find it for kubuntu and set it to the highest priority in your kde phonon settings.

There is any chance to see a "Download video" option on minitube? Amazing app, BTW! Congrats!
