Version 1.6.4 contains several important bugfixes, especially to the search functionality. It also contains new translations to Chinese.
This is a very nicely developed software and it performs great on my desktop. Thanks for the continued development and being a consistent contributor to the open source community. My contrats to this latest release of a wonderful product.
Thanks to the developers who have made this software. It's incredibly helpful for me.
As to the debate that's going on, this is hardly the forum for that, I think. We should be using this space to be helping the developers make improvements by giving helpful feedback.
I think the debate going on here (If I can call it that) is really more appropriate in some other forum elsewhere. KDE-Apps is about the software, not your opinion about the Bible whatever that may be. I for one find this software useful, I hope it continues to improve and I am thankful that there are people volunteering their time and effort to make software like this available that people such as myself will enjoy. Thanks guys and keep it up.
Hey while you're working on this is it possible to add the koran and the tora as well? I think they are on the internet somewhere or somewhere else. That would be cool. T.I.A
The Holy Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God. You can't compare ordinary books, religious in content or not, with what God has spoken! Obviously, false religions can never be mixed with "the Way, the Truth and the Life". It's incompatible with the belief in the 100% truth. If the creators of BibleTime would promote false religions, they would bear bad fruit. It's like mixing true science with false science. We, as sons and daughters of God, could never do that.
2 Cor. 6:14-18.
(You need to tap into the Bible to check the verses out. The easiest solution may be to just download BibleTime... ;)
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Cor. 6:14-18)
FOR SCIENCE, the Bible does include scientific statements, and for that reason many creation researchers are depending on it. This is a fact. (http://www.icr.orghttp://www.halos.com/http://www.worldbydesign.orghttp://www.answersingenesis.org/http://www.christiananswers.net/creation). You should respect those many scientists. But that is not the main purpose of the Holy Scriptures. But as for education, the Holy Bible IS profitable for learning, but that is not the main purpose of the Holy Scriptures, either. The american Noah Webster considered education useless without the Bible. The Word is practically about everything. It's about becoming a new creature. And it WORKS, because I've experienced it!
This is what the Bible is about: How to be saved from damnation and enter Heaven.
Umm ... you are mistaken. Of course, you are free to believe what you want, but saying that someone is damned to hell for not believing the Bible is really crazy.
For all that the intelligent people say, I'm sure that none of them will dispute the "process" of science ... you might have learnt it at school if you listened enough: the Scientific Method, which continues naturally rather than irrationally as in a religion (especially like Christianity). The method is more important as a criteria of evaluation of belief systems of Science vs some religion.
As far as the history of christianity and the historicity in the Bible goes, it is quite suspect. This was shown by several theologians and philosophers even in the 19th century ... of course, since Christianity is not scientific, they wouldn't accept it.
There have been several such independent and scientific studies of the Bible and Christianity over the ages. Some of those studies are by one of the greatest geniuses born on Earth, the polymath, Engels. He has written on the studies and he has studied himself some of the questions on Christianity. I reference two works for your pleasure [1], [2].
About science in the Bible, please do not mistake assertions as Science. We being human beings, the same as the human beings who wrote the Bible, do comment on the environment around us. Making assertions about nature points more to a human authorship than to a divine revelation. This is why, although the cave paintings show that blood drips from the animal when a spear pierces it, no scientist would consider that cave men knew the circulatory system (discovered by Harvey). Making assertions about nature is natural to human beings; note the cliche about boring conversations going something like "how is the weather there ...".
Coming to your post, I think it is disgusting to see your evangelism on kde-apps/kde-look. My religion is KDE on GNU/Linux and this website is towards that. I know exactly how you would react if a Wicca or a Muslim would come to evangelise on one of your religious websites.
So please STOP!
In the end, I would say that asserting the scientific value of the Bible or Christianity is nonsensical at best, even if there are assertions about nature, the value of Christianity lies in its moral system (unfortunately, the moral system is not even practiced by anyone today, as evidenced by your posts). Also, the educational value of Christianity doesn't extend beyond the moral question, but these moral statements are given by almost all religions, you know, like "do good", "be good to others", etc. In such a case, there is no value to Christianity per se, over and above the moral teachings of the so-called Christ.

Well said !
This Christian fundamentalism/creationist malignancy is really becoming a problem, It appears all they are intent on is brow beating with the threat of damnation , is this a tactic to gather the faithful?
Anyway some good news :
On the 7th day God created the Internet!

"The BBC reports that research into evolution's inner working has been named rtop science achievement of 2005 From the article: 'The prestigious US journal Science publishes its top 10 list of major endeavors at the end of each year. The number one spot was awarded jointly to several studies that illuminated the intricate workings of evolution. The announcement comes in the same week that a US court banned the teaching of intelligent design in classrooms.'"
Some people are fond of evangelizing even though they themselves say they don't believe in a religion. That is not consistent. These same persons are the first to tell others not to evangelize. However, I've not been evangelizing. This is just what I am. A Christian believer who professes faith in Christ. What I did here, was to promote a blessed app. called 'BibleTime'. Of course, you can't advocate for a software without talking for what's it about! The inaccuracy on claims of biblical account, or so called 'biblical illiteracy' is very widespread these days. It's normal to meet people who can make the most false astonishing claims about God, Jesus Christ, the Bible etc. even though they don't know an iota of what they are talking about. They haven't even read the New Testament. (But I guarantee you, that You will not be disappointed, if you do!)
Now, if you want to discuss Christianity, I assure that there are tons of websites for that sole (soul) purpose! I have recommended a few of them, but there are probably more. If you are interested and want to know more about the God that created the universe, then I refer to the links posted, AND especially for sake of biblical creation, Creation Science. For God is alone the Creator of the universe.
Everything that exists has a cause. By this, we know that God IS. Einstein knew it, and I do too! Thank you people. God bless you, your children, and/or your family.
This is how I became a believer: I was lying down on my bed. I called on the name of the Lord. For the Holy Bible says: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Rom. 10:13) Instantly, after a few 10-15 seconds, I could feel that I was beeing infilled by the Holy Ghost. It went out in the whole of my body; every limb, my fingers, my toes. This was an remarkable experience! The empty void inside my heart, suddenly was gone! I was filled with the grace of the Living God and His eternal Love!
This born-again experience lasted about 45 seconds. I can't remember exactly. It was three years ago. I knew that I was a New Creature (new Creation. In Christ). From thas day on, I could not doubt anything in the Holy Bible anymore. Past I had lots of doubts. How could every man descend from two prehistoric men: Adam and Eve. But now that I had experienced the truth MYSELF, I knew that everything in the Holy Scriptures was 100 percent truth. My faith became very strong.
I still feel the precious presence of the Holy Spirit residing in my chest as I write these words of grace to you.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. - - II Corinthians 5:17 - -
Martin
I just have, before I go to bed, post these two blessed links which PROVES that there are lots of intelligent people, in this case scientists, who believes in Creation. It deserves to be heard!
Heavy list of people in the past and today, who believed or currently believes in the Creation as written in the Word of God!
http://www.answersingenesis.org/Home/Area/bios/default.asp
Of course, the greatest scientist of them all, Isaac Newton, was a believer in scientific creation!
100 Scientists reserve themselves against darwinism. A PDF file.

"It deserves to be heard."
Same old.....
Faith is not proof, and any way Einstein did not believe in Jesus, he was Jewish..... remember!
Christ did not meet any of the criterion qualifying the Messiah layout in the old testament. Not that I care or believe, but just quoting scripture, since you seems to believe nothing else.
Christianity and Islam both piggy back on the Jewish faith, and both appear to be selective users of the old testament, selecting only the parts that suit there needs.
Of course you have to count the Old Testament, Jesus died for the sins of man, that apparently started with Adam and Eve "Old Testament", so with out it, there is no new testament, But the old testament does not recognize Jesus of Nazareth as the son of Jehovah.
Bit of a problem me thinks...
So tell me, Do you think all the Jews, Muslims and Buddhists are going to hell, Please, I would like your thoughts on this as a christian, If so, I say what a loving compassionate religion you follow, this follow me or suffer torture for eternity bullshit is no better than sadistic religious brow beating.
Hi!
hmmm, apostoles: Pavel, Peter, and other apostoles, prophets, evangelists (Jesus Christ by passport) were Jews. 75 book in Bible written by Jewish hand. So, what about Einstein?
About the Old Testaments: 3d book of Ezra 7:28, 52,53,54 chapters of Isaiah's book, 21(22) chapter of Psalms. I have no an english translate of Bible to quote it here, but i guess, you have it ;-)
So, where do you think Buddists will come if they are not beleive nor in hell neither in paradize? If you think that God will accept all of people, who just simply makes good(in his own mind and manner) but beleive in something diffrent(Buddah, Allah, money, Wicca, nothing at all), it's your own faith, religion and imaging about God. It's your will, let it be ;-) But the Truth does not depends on our imagins. So, for some questions email me, couse it seems, its offtopic on this site.
The biggest question is this:
WTF does this all have to do with a KDE app?
I suggest the admins to remove any true religious kde application.
They bore me.
I want to see ktorrent programs, i want to see smplayer.
I dont want to see stuff like that at all.
Let the creationists play in their mud holes on ANOTHER SERVER, Please. Dont torture the rest of us with this.
"Creationists" are not scientists.
Scientists do not presume "intelligent design" or other buzzwords the church throws in.
So please stop spreading lies.
In science, you can attack any theory but of course you must DEBATE and present SOUND FACTS. Nothing is cisled in stone.
Against the church, you were burned long ago. Please compare that.
So I've been trying to use bibletime on bsd for a few weeks, but it keeps dumping on me when I try to open a book, or create a bookmark, or well, anything really. I really want to use this software is there any place I can send a bugreport or get a little help?
If there is no science in the bible, and there is no bible in science, what is scientology again? ;-) In all seriousness though, for some semblence of organized cataloguing, you should consider filing the bible stuff where it belongs, which is Education or perhaps OTHER. I highly doubt anyone is looking in the bible for geneaological research or the specs on rebuilding Noah's Ark.
My gut tells me this is a great tool for those studying how to become a better person, how to treat one another, or maybe not... At any rate the bible is filled with life, death, honesty, dishonesty, morals, values, and a little sodomy here and there in black and white and in several languages. It's a study guide for life. Hardly akin to autoCAD, Engineering, or applied physics. BTW, I am a Christian. Merry Christmas. And to the rest of you, happy whatever it is you celebrate this time of year.

Hi there, How do I add other languages of the bible? - Is there a version in Danish? - And if not, is there a guide to add it from a plain-text file?
This is a very nicely developed software and it performs great on my desktop. Thanks for the continued development and being a consistent contributor to the open source community. My contrats to this latest release of a wonderful product.

You are right. I realized that voting bad is just easier than to debate about this.

Yes, you are right. Even as a christian i am of the opinion that we should use this webpage only to present and discuss software, not religions.
I agree. This debate is silly. Lets move this "kde" application to another place. Something like /dev/null
Hi, I was going to give Bibletime a try but the crosswire site is down. Does anybody know for how long the site will be down or know a good mirror?
