Could you please add compatibility to Firefox 4? :)
Some news about the compatibility with Firefox4 ?!
Since you're using Arch Linux, why not use firefox-kde-opensuse from the AUR, which also uses KDE to show its notifications.
This addon looks great but it seems to have not yet been updated on addons.mozilla.org. Just reporting in case this is not only a delay in Mozilla addons processing.
Firefox 3.6 has libnotify support, so download dialogs should now fit in with the rest of Plasma as long as libnotify is installed and browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete is true.
Forgot to add, in FF 3.6 the Firefox icon is also used in notifications instead of the kdialog icon, and recent notifications will be grouped under Firefox instead of kdialog in the system tray.
Thanks! That worked indeed. Only problem I can see is that long filenames tend to "leak out" of the notification-bubble, but not a big deal since the bubble disappears after a little while anyway.
Maybe I'm missing something but the download link doesn't work. Or rather: it re-directs me to the addons mozilla site as it should, but it's still version 0.3.0 there and not 0.3.1 (and I'd really like it to work with FF 3.6).
same here, i cant see 0.3.1 :/
Sorry, the addon update was not yet approved by the Mozilla team, it is still under review. It will appear on the same URL that now redirects to version 0.3.0.
Thanks for this great extension! I've found a bug in it. If i'm downloading any file with russian name (for example, I'm downloading this page as "тест.html"), this notifier shows name with incorrect charset (for this case, "B5AB.html" instead of "тест.html"; I think it is unicode charset) $ echo "тест" | iconv -f UTF-8 -t UNICODE B5AB P.S sorry for my bad english
confirm, please fix.
Firefox(Shiretoko, default of arch linux) 3.5.2 + KDE 4.3.0 and works perfectly ! thx man
After Firefox 3.0.13 & KDE 4.3.0 Update, PlasmaNotify dont work anymore. All I get after a download, is a GTK-Notifikation in the middle of the screen. Are you planning any updates for this problem?

I have to ask, is it possible to kill Firefox's popup download window completely and just have it run through the new notification system in 4.3? That would be one huge step forward...
I'm currently working on exactly this feature for which I have ported PlasmaNotify from bash script to java (The bash script method of accessing dbus is somehow limited). I also try to catch all types of Firefox notifications, not only finished downloads.
I have just noticed that this add-on doesn't work when an add-on update notification appears. It would be nice to have covered all kind of notifications from Firefox (and Thunderbird?).
Thank you for this excellent extension. It would be very cool if the download process itself will be displayed in the notification area too. Is this possible?
This will be possible as soon as I switched to DBUS for communication with the VisualNotification system. ATM, I use kdialog which is rather limited. But I plan to switch the communication method in one of the next releases.
Great. I'm looking forward to see this feature. :-)
When I download a file, the notification bar appears two times. kde 4.2.4, qt 4.5.2, opensuse 11.1, firefox 3.0.10.
