Description: This small applet allows you to control backlight of your notebook using sysfs interface. Currently tested on acpi4asus but can work on anything that implements sysfs backlight classLast changelog:
0.2: added sudo support to chmod o+rw brightness 0.1: initial release
If you know any porgrammable way to control your notebook's brightness - tell me and I'll add support for it into BrightnessCtl. The most unified way to do so is kernel lcd backlight interface, but it seems that it is supported only by acpi4asus.
Regarding kicker crash: BrightnessCtl tries to unregister the handher that does not even exist so you have kicker crashing. I've solved this in next version but for now it's useless to upload it - this one works for /sys/class/backlight and doesn't work with anything else
do you have the latest version of acpi4asus? not the asus_acpi but asus_laptop module. Also make sure you have backlight controls enabled in your kernel config (somewhere in the framebuffer config)
sorry, it extracts fine via command line.
but it doesn't seem to work on my computer, moreover closing removing brightnessctl from panel makes kicker crash.
