QPaddy
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
I've written QPaddy because I wanted an editor which is:
- simple,
- with basic function,
- with poor software request (X and qt libraries),
- simple for newbies,
- with the capabilities of showing external command output.
This isn't a complete editor and it is very young. I hope you can enjoy it.
-- Version 0.89.2
- Ask for confirmation if you select an existing file in the "Save As" dialog.
-- Version 0.89.1
- you can associate a file extension with a charset using the configuration file
- better indent/unindent
-- Version 0.89.0
- it is now possible to choose the charset to open (and save) a file.
-- Version 0.88.7
- recent files: now save the absolute path;
- when external command icon is not found QPaddy uses qpaddy icon, previous version did not show the button;
- two more icons;
- hungarian translation (thanks to brt kr).
-- Version 0.88.6
- new icon set, thanks to: Tango Desktop Project;
- correct a bug for temporary file.
-- Version 0.88.4
- changes to have less warning while compiling in recent distros;
- new instances of QPaddy use the fileType selected with -e option;
- some minor fixes.
-- Version 0.88.2
- The lines with a bookmark are highlighted (with a user selected color);
- Fixed: correct bookmark text in bookmark menu.
-- Version 0.88.1
- the bookmarks are marked between lines counter.
-- Version 0.88.0
- added the Bookmarks menu: it allows you to work with the bookmarks in the currently active document.
-- Version 0.87.8
- external commands output in a dockable window;
- external commands in a specific toolbar;
- improved highlighting of the current line;
- improved functions to hide/show toolbars.
-- Version 0.87.7b
New:
- it opens files from command line even if the path or file name contains non-latin symbols.
- Polish translation (thanks to Jarek)
- added the package for Mandriva 2008 (thanks to Jarek)
-- Version 0.87.7
New:
The current line is now highlighted.
-- Version 0.87.6
New:
- New window for the external command output: the output is updated every time the external command creates a line of output; you (can stop and) know if the external command is terminated or not.
-- Version 0.87.4
New:
- It can pass the current text (even if the file is not saved) to an external command;
- it even shows the eventual stderr of an external command.
-- Version 0.87.2
New:
- it is now possible to disable the "paste with the center mouse button" function using the configuration file (NoMidButtonPaste option); it seems that this function, which you may normally find in Unix, gives problems to new users.
Fixed:
- after loading a new file or when starting a new session it indicated an undo available, when it was not existant at all.
-- Version 0.87.0:
Indent/deindent functions;
tabulator width can be chosen by the user.

Now I changed to new computer with new Mandriva with new development environment. After entering 'make' the following errors say that I use too new versions of QT. The compiling fails. uic: File generated with too old version of Qt Designer (3.3) File 'searchdlg.ui' is not valid I have Qt Designer 4.5.0. And the old version is not in the package list so it cannot be installed. So it is not compatible with your older version.
Hello. I've installed a fresh Mandriva 2009.1 on VirtualBox. Then, from Mandriva repository, I've downloaded: + libqt3-devel (with all its dependences: it's about 125MB) + make + gcc-g++ (other 10MB) I've downloaded qpaddy from qt-apps :-P and then: tar jxvf 62284-qpaddy-0.89.0.tar.bz2 cd qpaddy-0.89.0/ qmake qpaddy.pro QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt3 export QTDIR make And I have a qpaddy running. I'm sure that it's not the best practice to use export for modify QTDIR, but I'm not familiar with Mandriva. Perhaps you should use alternatives (man update-alternatives) For example, as root, try: # update-alternatives --display qmake # alternatives --display uic
Hi, I just wanted to make install the latest. Sorry to me, bacause I have no qmake. What time will it be ported to Mandriva? By the way. I translate it to Hungarian language with UTF-8 decoded file. Check it here: http://brtkr.extra.hu/offsite/qpaddy_hu.ts I hope and trust my translation will be in the next release of QPaddy. Sorry for UTF-8.
Hi, I'm sorry, but I've seen your comment only today, after the 0.88.6 version. To install QPaddy by source you need qmake and other utilities such as uic and moc, which are probably included in one package (qt3-dev-tools for ubuntu). The rpm package for Mandriva was made by a Polish guy, but I was not able to contact him for the last versions. So I think that the only way to install last version of QPaddy is to use the source. I'm happy to see your translation for QPaddy and I'll use for the next version. If you want I can send you a pre-realese so that you can translate it. For more info for installation or translation you can email to: ebmail @ yahoo.it I hope to hear from you soon.
The only difference between QPaddy 0.87.0 and 0.87.0b is the file format: qpaddy.0.87.0.tar.bz2 was, in fact, a gzipped file; qpaddy.0.87.0b.tar.bz2 is a really bzip2 file. Sorry. I am sure this was not a big issue for you. Have you got some other problems compiling and using QPaddy? Have you got some notes on QPaddy? Any comment is greatly appreciated, thanks.
