SpeedReader is an open source cross-platform program, developed with Qt. It allows you to read any kind of texts super-fast by displaying up to 10 words at a time, with a speed from 300 to 3000 words per minute. In the settings you can conveniently customize the color, font face and font size of the currently shown sequence of words. Furthermore, you are able to change the background color as well.

Besides there are three extra features. Stop- and breakwords will be explained in the screenshots below. Delaywords are words, which will be displayed longer. The display time is configurable in the settings menu. An example for a good delayword would be the dot. This would give your brain time to finish the sentence.

SpeedReader also does support RSS v2. So you can conveniently consume and read your favorite news articles.
