When this will be released, I will need an ice cube (big enough to fit exactly into desktop cube with screen resolution 1280x1024)
I'd like to see the ice cube ~50% transparent and to have round edges.
If someone who knows how to use blender will do it, I'll be very thankful.
I would like to see the wallpaper updated of each desktop that shows the 3D element in the middle of the cube from the perspektive of the current desktop. In that way you can also see the 3D element, when you don't turn the cube and get a better idea on which desktop you are currently.
I can already do that: when you have a stationary 3d object in the cube and have set your desktop to be semi-transparent, then on each desktop you see a different viewpoint of the object.
pretty much--to avoid having to link to the glut libraries, I just copied the source (this was just an experiment after all).
solid objects still behave strange though--the solid teapot is semi-transparent when lit.
let me know if the result is any different for you.
I'm usually on #beryl-dev nightly, same nick
I've wanted something like that for a while...
I hope one day it will be possible to have an xplanet-style globe in the middle, with realtime updating shadows...
That would be awesome, yes. Personally, I would like to have an aquarium inside. Get bored at looking at the aquarium from one side? Just turn the cube!
Once animation and proper lighting starts working, the poop will hit the fan. The possibilities are endless.

I was just about to get started on putting the teapot into the cube. Did you use the glutWireTeapot call? -Rob
