have you tried mtaskbar?, with that taskbar you can set the font color to the one used for bg, and get legible taskbar entries, (it works for me with xgl+compiz). cool desktop.

kkrizka

What icon set are you using? It looks really nice!

seanbarman

xx

If you have Compiz installed you can add a picture behind the cube, its animated as well and looks cool. just download Gset-Compiz, select plugins : cube. Add any PNG 2048 by 1024 of your choice.

dapper89

Good work, love the look! especially the icons. Where did you get those from?

Meamu

vagabound

What a cool looking desktop! How did you get the kicker to look like that?

seanbarman

My Kicker is just a kbfx theme found here, reveline I think, I just added the vista style kicker bmp to the kicker, its also slightly transparent thanks to XGL

seanbarman

Hi, I had the same problems with the deco missing and just tried combining some tutorials. 1) Followed this http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=147711 2) Replace this part #!/bin/bash compiz --replace gconf decoration dock wobbly fade minimize cube rotate zoom scale move resize place state switcher trailfocus water bs widget & gnome-window-decorator with #!/bin/bash gnome-window-decorator & compiz --replace gconf miniwin decoration wobbly fade minimize cube rotate zoom scale move resize place switcher trailfocus water & 3) Icons i found on Deviant art called Shiny Black Folders, I combined them with Vista Inspirate. sorry do not have the links. 3) KDE style QT curve, window deco just standard compiz. Hope this helps and thanks for the votes.

Nice screen shot But how can you bear having 1499 unread RSS feeds :-O

seanbarman

1499 rss is due to trying to get XGL to work for the past couple of weeks, one minute it was working, next update it was broken. It seems very stable with the last updates now, and cube spins with just the mouse wheel on the desktop, a nice touch I think.

Divilinux

what a bad screenshot voted bad

mononoke

hi, which icon theme are you using ? nice icons on the desktop!

beachbum

looks great! hows the performance? what hardware are you running?

seanbarman

I have a P4 3.6ghz 1gb ram ,800gb Geforce FX5900. But i'm sure the most inportant thing is the Nvidia card. A cheap second hand geforce 4 ti from Ebay will do the job great.I have 2 dvb-t cards and can watch these and DIVX movies all transparent at once. I would say there are a few small issues to resolve, I had trouble getting it to work, till some of the repo's were updated. It's a pity it won't be ready to ship with Dapper!

akb

where did you get this kicker background from? :-) and did you scale the kbfx button images or is it the size this theme comes with?

seanbarman

kbfx-vista for kicker &revaline 4 for button here on kdelook
