how to: chance the OpenSuSE kickoff menu icon
(for the people that want to know 
)I like the OpenSUSE kickoff menu but i don't like the branding, so i have figure it out how to change the icon of this menu.
************************here we go!************************
- Download a KBFX menu button of take a normal (K menu) icon.
Open this image with The Gimp, and save this again as “kmenu_basic.mng”.
Open a Konqueror window and go to: /home/YOUR-NAME/.kde/share/apps/kicker/pics
In this folder you will find a file called kmenu_basic.mng. Rename this one to kmenu_basic_backup.mng (so you can restore to default again)
- Now go with the Konqueror to the location where you save you image, and copy the image to the opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/pics location.
- Restart the kicker. (alt+f2 > dcop kicker kicker restart)
Ps.
- there is a minor problem that I can't solve yet, the eye of the chameleon (a small white dot) is still visible and i can't hide this animation
Ps2.
- To make a animated icon for the Kickoff menu:
sometimes you have a icon whit diverend colors now you can make a animated icon from the diverend icons.
Open the default icon whit The Gimp, and drag the other icon in the default icon windows (and you can do that again if you have more)
Now save this file as a mng file whit animation (you can set the delay time, I think 100/150ms will be ok).
Thats it.

hoi allen,
hoe je het openSUSE kickoff menu logo kan veranderen. (voor de mensen die het weten willen
)persoonlijk vind ik het nieuwe kickoff KDE menu van openSUSE best wel een goed menu, maar ik vind het SUSE logo wat minder zeker omdat dit standaard niet is aan te passen. Na wat zoeken en rommelen in mijn systeem ben ik erachter hoe je dit relatief simpel kan veranderen.
************************Ok hier gaan we!************************
- Download ergens een KBFX menu knop of neem een gewoon Kmenu icon.
- Open dit bestand met the Gimp, en sla het meteen weer op als "kmenu_basic.mng”.
- Open nu een Konqueror venster en ga nu naar /home/EIGEN-NAAM/.kde/share/apps/kicker/pics en hernoem nu het "kmenu_basic.mng" bestand wat ik die map staat naar "kmenu_basic_backup.mng" (hierdoor kan je het later altijd nog weer terug zetten naar het standaard SUSE icon )
- Ga nu met de Konqueror naar de locatie waar je het nieuwe menu logo hebt opgeslagen en plaats het in de /home/EIGEN-NAAM/.kde/share/apps/kicker/pics map.
- Herstart nu de kicker of log even uit en weer in. (alt+f2 > dcop kicker kicker restart)
Ps.
- Er is nog een klein probleempje dat ik niet kon oplossen, het oogje van de chameleon een klein wit puntje, kan ik niet weghalen.
Ps2.
- Als je een icoon met een animatie wilt maken:
Soms heb je van een icoon verschillende kleuren door deze achter elkaar te zetten kan je een simple animatie maken.
Open het eerste icoon in The Gimp en sleep vervolgens de andere in dat venter. (als je meer kleuren heb kan je die er ook in droppen)
sla het nu op als geanimeerd MNG file (je kan de delay tijd instellen maar 100ms sec is waarschijnlijk goed)
dat was het.

Great tip! To get rid of the eye: 1) Click Unlock the Panel (if locked) 2) Click Configure Panel 3) Choose Menus on the left side 4) Uncheck "Open menu on mouse hover" I'm using a scaled down version of the blue K from Revaline\\\'s Launch Menu and it seems to work for me!
That doesn't get rid of the eye for me. I am using an animated image I created, maybe that makes a difference.
