There are some desktop programs like this on Windows platforms, but not in control panel. It will be cool if it comes with KControl. Also it will be more usable. Wallpaper management will be easy. Groups can be easily created by using directories. Of course this will be easy to manage groups manually.
Perhaps in the future www.kde-look.org can be rearranged to manage and download wallpapers under groups. (may be groupped ten by ten, then zipped to allow fast downloads)
A small problem:
I don't know programming and of course I won't do anything about my idea.
We're looking for a volunteer!

Bye!

...but that picture is labelled volcanic and it's a glaciated peak. i know, i'm a dork but i live in the shadow of 3 volcanoes...gotta love the pacific northwest.
I just copied this file from my windows partition and used it. Didn't care file name :))
.. a wallpaper-database on the web? Okay, that's nothing special, but how about the possibility to lets say browse all kde-look.org wallpapers in this dialogue? just an idea... but it would be cool.. :-)
than the "original" idea!
of course to make it work, kde-look must be rearranged. This dialog is for only local files. A choice may be added that allows to connect wallpaper database on web. Or an application or a new KControl module can be developed for this purpose.
..you shouldn't work as root :)
it was just after I tried to compile a module for my pctel modem. (unsuccesful) Thanks...:) The only thing that bothers me is: I often visit www.kde-look.org and I run an eye over great works of kde artists and I read comments. But I never see a kde-developers' comment that says "that's good, let's use it in upcoming versions" or "no, it's not easy to code it" or "we didn't like it" Now, I'm asking: "Do KDE guys visit this page?"
(almost) no :) especially now, as all of them are busy preparing 3.1 Daniele
And I'm sure it's very easy to implement this.
